    Hi Lads

A friend of mine is thinking of getting sky installed in his house.
If he goes for the Sky + offer can he down grade after a few months to a 2 mix pack.

Say he does down grade will he then have to pay the Sky+ PVR subscription as he does not want or need the PVR functions for the rest of the year?

I'm thinking its a good way to get a Quad LNB installed and a sky + box is handy to have as you can activate the PVR functions again if you wish.

I have suggested that he can then use the other two out puts for some FTA cheapo Sat recivers in other rooms.

    Thanks,
    Eoin

AFAIK, yes he can downgrade his subscription, but not cancel. He will have to pay the €15 per month PVR subscription though if he cancels his premium channels (you need at least 2 premium Sky channels to keep PVR free).

PVR - Personal Video Recorder.. in this context, the ability to save programs to the hard disk in the Sky+ box :)

So if your subscribed to Sky Sports 1,2,3 and Xtra would this count as keeping PVR free?

Yes it would. If you have 2 or more of any combination of Sky Movies 1, Sky Movies 2, Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2.

He may say that now, but once you have PVR functionality I think it would be close to impossible to go back to regular TV viewing :D

The mix package does not count towards the free subscription to sky+. you must have 2 premium channels, eg Sky Sports1 and Sky Sports2
