My brother is an ISM instructor and he decided not to go with the franchise. He says that ISm qualified instructors have a very bad name. It could be to do with the fact that they are churning them out at a fast rate. im not sure.

But this could be important as it may affect the amount of business you get.

My dad is an ISM instructor, from what i can see the franchise is a good way to start out in the business as you will be working under a recognised name which will help bring in the first batch of students... TBH though once you have a solid customer base it will be word of mouth that generates most of the business and the franchise/brand name becomes less important.

On the financial outlay the obvious start up expenses would be:

    Instructor Training Course
    New Small Car (Yaris/Micra etc.)
    Dual Controls
Branding for car (lettering, cone on top of car)
    Insurance
    Advertising (Flyers, business listings, etc)
    Franchise Fee

Im may be missing out on some things there but thats what springs to mind.

Good luck anyway if you decide that it is the path you wish to take
