    i've 2
    champagne supernova - oasis
presure of modern life - sack

for ease i'll use champagne supernova

    How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
    Slowly walking down the hall
    Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
    Someday you will find me
    Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
    Someday you will find me
    Caught beneath the landslide
    In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky
Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams, she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
    Slowly walking down the hall
    Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
    Someday you will find me
    Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
    Someday you will find me
    Caught beneath the landslide
    In a champagne supernova
    A champagne supernova
    'Cuz we don't believe
That they're gonna get away from the summer
But you and I will never die
The world's still spinning around we don't know why
    Why-why-why-why-i-i
    (guitar solo)
    How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
    Slowly walking down the hall
    Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
    Someday you will find me
    Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
    Someday you will find me
    Caught beneath the landslide
    In a champagne supernova
    A champagne supernova
    'Cuz we don't believe
That they're gonna get away from the summer
But you and I will never die
The world's still spinning around we don't know why
    Why-why-why-why-i-i
    (a really long guitar solo)
(background - sounds like a bunch of "No"'s)
    (birds chirping)
    (more guitar)
    How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high <-- 9 times, background "Oooh-oooh"
(Fades out 7th-9th times to just one "Oooh-oooh")
(Song gets really quiet, fades to a peaceful guitar solo.)

    I like that too

I'll get back to you on mine, but my top fave song is Iris by the Goo-Goo Dolls

It would have to be the "Shut the hell up, Jezza" one I wrote a few months ago.

    Exhume to Consume-

Grimly I dig up the turfs
    To remove the corrupted stiffs
    Trying to contain my excitement
    As I desecrate graveolent crypts...
    Fingers claw at coffin lids
    Eager festal exhumation
    Hugging your wry, festered remains
    With post-humous joy and elation...
    Body snatched, freshly interred
    Whatever takes my fancy
    To satisfy my gratuitous pica
    My culinary necromancy...
    Scrutinised then brutalised
    My forensic inquisition is fulfiled
My recipe is now your epitaph
Be it fried, boiled or grilled...

    I devour the pediculous corpse
Whetting my palate as I exhume
The festering stench of rotting flesh
Makes me drool as I consume...

    Caskets I grate
    My larder's a grave
I'm sickly obsessed (with the badly decomposed)
    Rotten remains I eat
    Purulent meat
What a funeral feast (putrid reek)

    And so forth...
    That's enough of that.

    Red Water (Christmas Mourning)-

    Wake up, it's Christmas mourn
Those loved have long since gone
The stocking are hung but who cares
preserved for those no longer there
    six feet beneath me sleep

Black lights hang from the tree
    accents of dead holly

    Whoa mistletoe
    (It's growing cold)
    I'm seeing ghost
    (I'm drinking old)
    Red water
    Red water
    Red water chase them away

My tables been set for but seven
just last year i dined with eleven
    goddamn ye merry gentlemen

    Whoa mistletoe
    (It's growing cold)
    I'm seeing ghosts
    (I'm drinking old)
    Red water
    Red water
    Red water chase them away.

    99 LuftBallons-

Hast du etwas Zeit fur mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied fur dich
    Von 99 Luftballons
    Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Denkst du vielleicht g' rad an mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied fur dich
    Von 99 Luftballons
Und dass sowas von sowas kommt
    99 Luftballons
    Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Hilet man fur Ufos aus dem All
    Darum schickte ein General
    'Ne Fliegerstafell hinterher
Alarm zu geben, wenn' s si war
Dabei war' n da am Horizont
    Nur 99 Luftballons
    99 Dusenjager
    Jeder war ein grosser Krieger
    Hielten zich fur Captain Kirk
    Das gab ein grosses Feuerwerk
    Die Nachbarn haben nichts gerafft
    Und fuhlten sucg gleich angemacht
    Dabei schoss man am Horizont
    Auf 99 Luftballons
    99 Kriegsminister
    Streichholz und Benzinkanister
    Hielten sich fur schlaue Leute
    Witterten schon fette Beute
    Riefen: Kring und wollten Macht
    mann, wer hatte das gedacht
    Dass es einmal soweit kommt
    Wegen 99 Luftballons
    99 Jahre Krieg
    Liessen keine Platz fur Sieger
    Kriegsminister gibt' s nicht mehr
    Und auch keine Dusenflieger
    Heute zieh ich meine Runden
Seh' die Welt in Trummern liegen
    Hab' 'nen Luftballon gefunden
Denk' an dich und lass' ihn fliegen

I got two, one introed to me by rach.
    Not coming home- Maroon 5
    When you refuse me
    You confuse me
What makes you think I’ll let you in again
    Think again my friend
Go on misuse me and abuse me
I’ll come out stronger in the end

And does it make you sad
    To find yourself alone
And does it make you mad
To find that I have grown
I’ll bet it hurts so bad
To see the strength that I have shown

When you answer the door pick up the phone
You wont find me cause I’m not coming home

You don’t know how much this hurts me
To say these things that I don’t want to say
But have to say them anyway
I would do anything to end your suffering
But you would rather walk away

and My happy ending- Avril Lavigne
So much for my happy ending
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh...

    Let's talk this over
    It's not like we're dead
    Was it something I did?
    Was it something You said?
    Don't leave me hanging
    In a city so dead
    Held up so high
    On such a breakable thread

You were all the things I thought I knew
And I thought we could be

    [Chorus:]
You were everything, everything that I wanted
We were meant to be, supposed to be, but we lost it
And all of the memories, so close to me, just fade away
All this time you were pretending
So much for my happy ending
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh...

    You've got your dumb friends
    I know what they say
    They tell you I'm difficult
    But so are they
    But they don't know me
    Do they even know you?
All the things you hide from me
All the **** that you do

You were all the things I thought I knew
And I thought we could be

    [Chorus]

It's nice to know that you were there
Thanks for acting like you cared
And making me feel like I was the only one
It's nice to know we had it all
Thanks for watching as I fall
And letting me know we were done

    [Chorus x2]

    [x2]
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh...
So much for my happy ending

Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh...

Personally I like REMs "Everybody Hurt Johnny Cash". It's a rare b-side though, so most people don't know it.

Speaking of B-Sides, the lesser known Rolling Stones origional, sung imo in its truest form by Dublin's Finest. Who can forget the forgettable "SARKY"

Sarky, Sarky, when will those mods all disappear?
Sarky, Sarky, where will it lead us from here?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
    You can’t say we’re satisfied
But Sarky, Sarky, you can’t say we never tried
Sarky, you’re beautiful, but ain’t it time we said good-bye?
Sarky, I still love you, remember all those nights we cried?
All the dreams we held so close all we did is drink and smoke
Let me whisper in your ear:
Sarky, Sarky, where will it lead us from here?
Oh, Sarky, don’t you weep, Jezza's kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
But Sarky, Sarky, ain’t it time we said good-bye?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
    You can’t say we’re satisfied
But Sarky, we all love you, baby
    Ev’rywhere I look I see your posts
There ain’t a woman that gets close to you
Come on baby, dry your eyes
But Sarky, Sarky, ain’t it good to be alive?
Sarky, Sarky, they can’t say we never tried

Cool that's mine too. I can even sing it backwards.
I heard there's a greek variation but i'd say it's not half as good as the english version!
    Sing it with me 'a.b.c.d.e.f.g.h.i.j.k.......

    I’m your only friend
    I’m not your only friend
But I’m a little glowing friend
But really I’m not actually your friend
    But I am
Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
    Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I’m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
I have a secret to tell
    From my electrical well
It’s a simple message and I’m leaving out the whistles and bells
So the room must listen to me
    Filibuster vigilantly
My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e
    My story’s infinite
Like the longines symphonette it doesn’t rest
Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
    Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I’m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
    I’m your only friend
    I’m not your only friend
But I’m a little glowing friend
But really I’m not actually your friend
    But I am
    There’s a picture opposite me
    Of my primitive ancestry
Which stood on rocky shores and kept the beaches shipwreck free
Though I respect that a lot
I’d be fired if that were my job
After killing jason off and countless screaming argonauts
    Bluebird of friendliness
Like guardian angels it’s always near
Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
    Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I’m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
    (and while you’re at it
Keep the nightlight on inside the
    Birdhouse in your soul)
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I’m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch (and while you’re at it)
Who watches over you (keep the nightlight on inside the)
Make a little birdhouse in your soul (birdhouse in your soul)
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I’m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch (and while you’re at it)
Who watches over you (keep the nightlight on inside the)
Make a little birdhouse in your soul (birdhouse in your soul)
Not to put too fine a point on it

    oooo yeah

Put on my blue suede shoes
    And I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the pouring rain
W.C. Handy - won't you look down over me
    Cause I got a first-class ticket
And I'm as blue as a boy can be

    Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
    Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel

    Saw the ghost of Elvis
    Down on union avenue
Followed him up to the gates of Graceland
I watched him walk right through
Now security they did not see him
They just hovered round his tomb
    There's a pretty little thing
    Waiting for the king
    Down in the jungle room

    Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
    Walking in Memphis
Do I really feel the way I feel

    ****now heres the best bit*****
They've got catfish on the table
They've got gospel in the air
    And Reverend Greeeeeeeeen...
'lll be glad to see you...
When you haven't got a prayer....[goes real high]
    pause
You've got a prayer in Memphis

    Now Muriel plays the piano
    Every friday at the Hollywood
And they brought me down to see her
And they asked me if I would
    Do a little number
And I sang with all my might
    She said
Tell me are you a Christian
and I said Ma'am I am tonight ***also one of the best bits***

    Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
    Walking in Memphis

    Slayer: Divine Intervention

    Awaken
    In a web like Hell
How did I reach this place
    Why are they haunting me
I cannot look at God's face

    Paralysing
    Brilliant light
    Trying to run
Want to scream, but cannot speak
I cannot look at God's face

Blind my eyes, I cannot see
What is being done to me
In my mind is only pain
    All the memories are drained

    Victimized
    Specimen
    Deathless torture
    Void with no mercy
Black shroud blinds those who see

    Violated
    Naked before you I stand
Shattered shrine of flesh and bone
    God's piercing through my soul

    Segments of my life
    Morbid pieces of reality
    Twisted personality
    Many faces yet faceless
Familiar things give way to strange
No mercy no reason just pain

    Fatal
    Sub-conscious control
    Threshhold of pain unfolds
    Transfixed martyr saving race
Who am I to judge thy grace

    Awaken
    In a web like Hell
How did I reach this place
    Why are they haunting me
I cannot look at God's face

Blind my eyes, I cannot see
What is being done to me
In my mind is only pain

    or

Johnny Cash: The Man Comes Around Lyrics

There's a man going around taking names
And he decides who to free and who to blame
Everybody won't be treated all the same
There'll be a golden ladder reaching down
    When the Man comes around

The hairs on your arm will stand up
At the terror in each sip and in each sup
Will you partake of that last offered cup?
Or disappear into the potter's ground
    When the Man comes around

Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers
    One hundred million angels singing
Multitudes are marching to the big kettledrum
    Voices calling, voices crying
Some are born and some are dying
It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come

And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree
The virgins are all trimming their wicks
The whirlwind is in the thorn tree
It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks

Till Armageddon no shalam, no shalom
Then the father hen will call his chickens home
The wise man will bow down before the thrown
And at His feet they'll cast their golden crowns
    When the Man comes around

Whoever is unjust let him be unjust still
Whoever is righteous let him be righteous still
Whoever is filthy let him be filthy still
Listen to the words long written down
    When the Man comes around

Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers
    One hundred million angels singing
Multitudes are marching to the big kettledrum
    Voices calling and voices crying
Some are born and some are dying
It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come

And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree
The virgins are all trimming their wicks
The whirlwind is in the thorn tree
It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks

In measured hundred weight and penny pound
    When the Man comes around.

Sorry, but Walking in Memphis was an ok song the first time it was released, but by the time it became a hit (it's seventh release) I was far too bored...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭Scraggs

    [gentle dig]

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

I honestly think it was about 7 releases. The story goes that the guy released it the first time he broke up with the subject lady of the somg and it was released upon subsequent break-ups.

This may be publicity of course, but that's what I remember hearing...

Excellent choice with divine intervention Kharn.

    Carcass - Corporal Jigsore Quandary
    [Music: Steer, Owen, Amott]
    [Lyrics: Walker]

    [Speech:]
"Identifying the bodies which are decomposed, dismembered, skeletonised pose very serious problems. We've had many cases in this department where a body
has been found in pieces, or decomposed, and we've been able to put things
together. Yes, the head, the upper part of the body, in a very badly
    decomposed state..."

    Excised and anatomised, deviscerated disarray
    The torso diverged with pride
Deftly amputated, evulsed limbs now defunct
The trunk imbrued, tatty stumps used as lugs
For a chondrin puzzle so quaint
    Head and body decollate
    A heaving mass so quiescent...

Scattered and scrambled, your teasement grows
    - A bloody caricature to make whole
A squirming grisly jigsaw, detrital fragments fit so snug
    - That missing piece will leave you stumped
Totally desassembled, nicely sliced and diced
    - A cold mannequin once resembled
Real cranium teaser, carved from flesh and bone
    - So mystifying...

Battered and diffused, with placating blows
    - A human jigsaw to make whole
A sequacious pattern which once fitted so snug
    - Joining together each dubious lump
Ravaged disassembly, neatly cubed and diced
    - A cold mannequin reassembled
Astute brain teaser, incorporate flesh and bone
    So mortifying...

An incessant game - methodically made
With each cumulative piecing - of commensated meat...

    Bi-manual reconstruction, eldritch problem complete
    A convented effigy
A pathological toy, each chunk rigorously
Inter mortis locking, as you pathogenically rot
    Such a perplexing task
To fit the remains in the casket
    Uliginous mess so quiescent...

An incessant game - methodically made
With each cumulative piece - of commensated meat...

    It rules, especailly the line
"And schools out early, soon we'll be learning and the lesson today is how-to-die".

    AON FOCAL EILE
    Richie Kavanagh

When I was just a lad I used to go to school
I'd sit down there in the seat, feeling like a fool
The teacher taught us everything, everything we know
She had a great big lump of a stick that was bent into a bow

    CHORUS:
She'd go "Aon focal dar, focal two, focal eile,
And I not knowing no focal at all
She'd go "Aon focal dar, focal two, focal eile
And I not knowing no focal at all

She taught how to say all our A.B.C.
She showed us how to make little men out of plasticine
She taught us how to say our prayers, she taught us right from wrong
The only thing about it, we didn't go to school too long

    Chorus

She taught us about the history, the Battle of the Boyne
And how to play a game with the chestnut and the twine
She says "Open up your catechism, learn all that information
If you don't get it in your big thick head, you won't get your conformation

    Chorus

Well, the days we spent going to school, were the best years of our life
Tho' at the time we thought they were full of trouble and strife
Now when I'm home on holiday, I'd pass the old school gate
I think of the time I spent in there, them times were surely great

He also called my mother a plucker
