    probabbly a stupid question but...

my missus has been doing a load of college work on my laptop. she has been saving it all to a memory stick. No she didnt save it to the drive on the lappy.

    she has lost the stick.

i dont suppose there is any way of retrieving the data from the laptop is there??

Not saved, not there. Unless the programs she uses has left behind any backups.

Possible (but unlikely) that there is a copy in the temp directory. If you want to find where your temp dir is click start/Run../cmd and type
    echo %temp% and
    echo %tmp%

Check both of those directories to see if anything shows up.

    But like I said, unlikely

If your machine is a Mac I don't really know.

Was the work opened from memory stick, worked on and then saved back to the stick?

You could give these guys a call. You'll probably get the same answer you got here though.
