    I have some experience with poster design for theatre porductions, try to have an eye-catching image, someone that willl stop people on the street and above all, will convey what the play is about, Have all the information clearly printed at the bottom (time, date, ticket prices, booking info etc.) as well as the name of the theatre group who is performing.

    For 'Rock Nativity' I'd suggest somehow working musical themes into the name, like having a drum for the O in Rock and maybe a guitar as the I in Nativity. Play around with ideas and see which fits the theme best.
