What Hard Drive is better?

I'm getting a laptop and I want to know which Hard Drive is better:
60GB (7.200rpm) or 80GB (5.400rpm)

There is no accurate answer for this. Some 5400 rpm hdd drives
perform better than 7200 rpm.

You will have to find a review of the two models in question. Good reviews
can be found at tomshardwarereview.

Don't let some IT hack tell you 7200 rpm is better because its faster because this is not always the case.

7,200 is often much louder if acoustics are important to you.

I cant remember where it was said, could be in the mac forum, but somebody here replacedtheir internal harddrive on their laptop with a faster unit. they said this not only improved loading up time but also increased the battery life because of the shorter amount of thime that the HD was active for- just what I read, jetsonx is right though, read the spec first.

What does better mean to you? More space? Faster read time? Quieter? Bigger buffer?

what brands ?
how much cache on the drives ?
how much power do they use ?
which can take the highest g-force ?
which has the shortest wake up time ?

what do you want - space or speed ?
