I have not thought this through at all but was thinking maybe i should do an album about the guitarists of boards in the studio. Just do an instrumental album ad feature any guitarists who wanna do it. Would be interesting to say the least! havent thought this through mind you

Location/time would prob make it impossible to get everyone into an actual studio, but doesnt mean we couldnt do something online (also bass players/drummers mighnt be a bad idea to get involved in this). If we had a fixed bpm/key we could get people to record using a click track on their comp or whatever recording medium they use doing whatever they want to do, riffs/solo's etc then the seperate pieces could say be uploaded to an open ftp ( I could provide this) and people could use everyones audio files to sequence a song.

As in compile an album with a track from anyone here who submits one? Maybe a slight vetting process would be needed, but I would happily contribute. Think there would be plenty of heavy stuff from people so maybe a soft instrumental instead of me mad ones :)

well what we could do is people could submit backing tracks with a nice handy thing to work with and then we will decide how to divide tracks. Was thinking more along the lines of ppl gettin a solo in a song or somethin but if there werent too many we could do whole tracks. So ppl get their parts, record their own parts. Send them to me and i wil mix it all and upload the album. Thats if you guys would be one for somethin like that. Would only really be for ourselves

I think it's a great idea, I'm doing it with some peeps on a guild board I'm on. It's really fun infusing your own style into someone else's as well....One is into trance/club, one is into newage piano, and I'm hard rock/metal bass&guitar....some really interesting outcomes!

    Definitely worth a shot...

What would you need BPM of song, Key.. etc..

Would you have to agree on format wav etc,

TBH, they used to do this a lot on guitar.com. Someone would upload a backing track, someone else would add a solo and upload and it carried on that way. Best way to do it tbh.

what fey said is what i was talkin about. Myself and maybe a mod or someone could overlook it to see that it works and then we will just compile it. We could have a backing and have the structure so everyone knows where there solo is.

Some sort of Collaberation forum? Go forth and suggest such a forum and I'm sure we will all support it.

so plan is to get a forum where we can all get together and structure songs between ourselves over the net? I suppose its not suitable to intruments so a forum for collaberation between people who want to get together over net and play. Sound right?

Basically. It'd be handier just to keep it in one forum, everything together, one thread per song, people can arrange amongst themselves how to do it, maybe even make it into a Home Recording forum?

Might want to specify that offsite file holders be used, or even find a common one for everybody....throwing mp3's back and forth takes up a HUGE amount of space.;)

I like the way your thinkin Fey, Thats what i was sayin earlier to some of the guys. People will be able to pair up themselves and sure then with stickys we could arrange mass things if we wanted. Lke you said it could be coupled with a home recording feel. it would certainly facilitate the exchange of ideas on the issue. Who do i raise it with? Boards in general?

Def Rustar. Boards cant be expected to host it. Most of the time it will be under their own space anyway. It means people can then post their songs to the forum for everyone to hear. Its a great way for ppl to let their gear or technique be heard

Stick up a Home recording/collab forum in the Forum forum in System on Boards. I may be able to offer a gig of public space towards this.
