Yep in fact 8 new radio channels have come on board. All the dublin local stations, and the remainder of the BBC ones - BBC 5 Live Extra and BBC 7.

I don't have NTL Digital myself, but I thought the Dublin Radio stations would have been included from Day One. Why has it taken so long?

Here in Galway, we got BBC5 Live Extra on 928 and BBC7 on 929, but that's it.

Must admit I proably wouldn't listen to the dublin satations here in Galway so no real great loss. Just great to see 5 Live extra (Especially for the cricket & extra footie coverage)

Delighted to see the extra radio stations. But Q102 is missing as far as the dublin stations are concerned, and BBC Radio 1 Extra and the BBC Asian Network are still not there either! I would love to see Talksport too!

It would be excellant if talksport was put on to it, a station that I can listen to all day, but I don't think its likely as talksport are a sky owned company.

    i thought UTV owned them

No sky own them. Thats why they're a pretty right wing station. Still the sports(football) coverage and commentary is second to none.

Ive got NTL Digital in Waterford,
What new Radio channels should I have!? Should I have the Dublin ones??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,514 ✭✭✭decies

no dublin stations in waterford .you should be happy with halmark and galway bay fm since last spring:mad:

Er no, UTV do own them:

    http://www.utvplc.com/radio.asp?sub=au&sublk=cst&fursublk=ra&id=15

Their right-wingness is possibly due to the previous influence of Kelvin McKenzie on the station...

Personally I'm glad to see the Dublin ILRs on NTL Digital, and especially BBC7.

My TV wish list is still Trouble, Challenge, ITV2 & 4, and Sky Three.

I checked that aswel, but english media outlets seem to constantly indicate that sky own them, and the presenters on the station constantly refer to Rupert Murdoch as "their boss".

Don't know if it's the same channel(sharing channel time)but ibuy is gone too. Never any use to us here cause they only shipped to the UK.

Great find re iBuy. Had noticed we'd dropped to 176 channels and couldn't figure out what had been removed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,031 ✭✭✭patrickmooney

    Just noticed myself we've more4 + 1, showing blank though. Ch 118.

And now we've ABC1 on ch 506!!! Amazing, but why so high. This is a great channel, but it's lost up in the 500s, 13x would have been better!

So over the last two months we got City, More4, More4+1, re-branded Sky Two, Hallmark and ABC1. Not to mention all the new radio channels.

Excellent, just noticed ABC1 now. Looks like a pretty good channel. Has a few classics like moonlighing and home improvement.

Are you for real? UTV recently bought "The Wireless Group", which included TalkSport. TalkSport is now part of UTV Radio. I've never heard anyone refer to them as being Sky-owned.

I don't listen to the station often - but I can't imagine they are referring to Murdoch as "their" boss.

The UTV Radio website says they own them - can you find something similar on the Sky website?

big frickin deal as they say on NYPD Blue. How many more channels do I have to avoid to miss Ellen etc! Bring on ITV4. Proper telly.

    Mike.

Are there any plans for Waterford to get the Dublin based radio channels?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,031 ✭✭✭patrickmooney

An interesting point about ABC1, it doesn't show ads between programme junctions, just straight into the next show...meant to be US style?!?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

i'd doubt it. have you contacted ntl?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,858 ✭✭✭paulm17781

There is a new music channel at 716 too. 'Hits' or somesuch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,031 ✭✭✭patrickmooney

Brill...it would appear we're getting all the freeview channels then! Hits tends to show music videos unlike mtv!

Well I read in the indo last week that Five are launching a version of the channel with Irish ads. As it's not on Sky, it can only mean for distribution on cable?!?

    Please let this be true.

Good news to see ABC1 - similar to Paramount in many respects, but with better presentation (not a fan of Paramount's recent make-over...). Very much US-style, the placement of its breaks (one directly after the opening titles and just before the final scene) is wierd, though Sky One were doing something rather similar in the mid-1990s for a while. The channel's jingle is starting to annoy me already though. It also has perhaps too much reliance on the now-cancelled Eight Simple Rules.

I noticed there is more channels in the PPV section. Am I right or was this upped ages ago and I never looked?
