It would be a bargain if norton was any good :) It's one of the worst packages available. Spawn of the devil. You can do better for free :)

zonealarm (or Win XP Sp2 firewall is good actually)/ AVG free anti virus/ etc

No, everything is wrong with this program. The biggest problem i have is why pay 40euro for an inferior product when i can get AVG free and it works a hole lot better.

But this is only your Opinion...;)

All i'm saying is .. its still a bargin for what you get.. I've been using norton for years and never found any problems with it, and i have tried AVG before and didnt like it.

Well agree to disagree on this one endurance man

Mate, it has nothing to do with opinion - there were test done (couldnt find the link) but Norton was one of the worst virus scanners there was. It found 10% of virii that were thrown at it. Thats AWFUL. You wouldnt buy fuel for your car that offered 10% of the mileage of its competitor would you?

Norton is a resource whore too - uses far more resources than other products. If you want a bargain, buy NOD32 or Kaspersky anti-virus. They're all you need.

I dont mean to diss your bargain find (it would be a good find if it wasnt pants), it's just about educating people not to buy this tat.

The only problem I have with norton is that it is absolute bloatware that will drag any PC kicking and screaming to a halt. ANY PC. My 2.3ghz A64 feels like a slug running norton antivirus even!

Their corporate products are quite good, I ran Corporate 10.0 for a while.

Then went to AVG. That was bad with catching java type stuff though.

Went to NOD32. Absolutely great, by far the best antivirus package.

not much of a bargin when my mate worked with a certain AV company and is always telling us to avoid it's Internet Security package :)

    Mate?

You'll find as many posts on the internet...for norton as against, and as for educating .... well its your word against mine..

This post is not about which Anti Virus software is the best... its just to let people know how cheap it is Jesus!!!

If your not a norton fan ...this post has nothing to do with ya!

All I'm saying is : Ghost,Firewall ,and Antivirus for €44 is not half bad

I've never had any problems with norton as I'm sure you havent with your recommended software

but.. everyone has different tastes so can yee relax abit...

These arguements go on all the time over stupid things .. firefox is better than exploer ...avg is better than norton ...blah blah blah blah

I'm not asking anyone to buy it ... I'm just making people aware of it....i thought this was the point of posting in this forum:mad:

/note to self ..take committed of xmas card list;)

AVG, or any number of other solutions are infinitely better than NAV on the basis that they will catch viruses; and most of them will have a lower RAM footprint (i.e. They're not memory hogs.); and with AVG + a few others - don't charge you 1p for this (Not €44!) You're arguements throughout have been that it hasn't caused trouble that you know about. That is the point really - it doesn't catch anything.
Wanna by my MagicBeansAV software? It's small, fast and only €30! (OK! it's actually just a program that sits there, doing nothing.. buy hey! it's a bargain to you;) )

In saying that, because it is a bundle and comes with half-decent (And i mean, half decent) software it may be worth it - for Ghost, and the other stuff might come in handy.

Karoma.... Magic beans is that the new thing? I'd say your eating to many of those beans..

Now run along like a good little boy ...its past your bed time!

and it hasnt caused me trouble ...that i know about.....sure i know nothing..but some day when i get hit over the head with a sledge hammer .. i might be as smart as you

If I see so much as a hint of hassle on any other thread on the for-sale forums from any of you, kiss access to the for sale forums goodbye for a month. That was one of the most shockingly bad displays of pedantry I've ever had the misfortune to witness on the Bargain Alerts forum.

This is not the forum for discussing the technical merits of software packages a, b, or c.

    Thread locked.
