And surely 6lbs won't stop the Fonze from going in again today at fairyhouse...

How good is your mate usually at tipping? Not great value with The Fonze today imo tho fade.

A winner is a winner. I think 9/4 was a great price for the fonze today

Winelover please read the charter. iloveireland has taken the time to post up a tip here. He has not gone around to Dublin Corporation and put a gun to your cart and made you put your life savings on the horse. The tip was posted in good faith. If you post in the same vein again on this board you will be banned.

sorry boys that was a dreadful tip.i didnt see the race but i was told that he had a very high draw and you probably should have noticed that yourself as i said have a look at the horse first..i didnt look into it because my mate gave me the tip and i had fate in him.i was also in a rush for work but if anybody is intersested that horse will have massive odds for his next race and i am told that it is a good horse hopefully with a low draw next time.

The horse finished dead last and didn't run with any promise at all mate...he'll be big odds for his next race for a reason.

    stay away from that horse.

Just because he had a bad race means very little. There are horses that do actually win at 50-1 and higher. I won on a horse at 50-1 only a month ago. Next time I saw it it was at 6-1. Actually another horse at 50-1 I put money on came 2nd only last week.

One bad race doesn't really mean anything, could have been the wrong type of ground or distance for him.

He came 2nd over course and distance in his previous race so that rules out blaming the ground of distance. In fairness to the horse, he was drawn in the coffin box draw which is almost impossible to win from over 5 furlongs at Wolverhampton. The last four home all had the 4 highest draws.

Despite the draw, the horse seemed to have a chance yesterday. He had a horrible action though and to be perfectly honest I'd be very surprised to see him go in at fancy prices anytime soon.

An interesting fact in races with 11 or 12 runners over 5 furlongs at Wolverhampton since the start of the flat season in 15 races the winner has never come from the top three stalls and 14 of the 15 races have been won by horses drawn in stalls 1-6.

That basically means you can almost certainly disregard half of the field in 5 furlong races at Wolverhampton. I wonder how many people go backing horses drawn 7-12?

and the same lad gave me two tips for today and i was afraid to post them because of yesterdays tip and one of them has won already.

hits only heaven won at 10/1
and desert island disc is running at 3:50 at 9/2

TOMBALINA runs today at Wolverhampton in the 2.35.

According to Irish-Racing.com the SP should be around 10/1

Will the OP be putting his money on this???????

    [EDIT]

I've just had a look at this horse's stats for similar 5f trips and as a result have had a sneaky tenner on him at 16/1 (PaddyP)

The horse could have been in his own stall a furlong ahead of everyone else and he'd still tail off last. I don't know what drugs your friend was smoking when he gave you this one buddy...last again today.

Have a look at tomorrow's cards and pick out a few for yourself...you're probably a lot better at picking them that the people that are advising you.

I'm agreeing with fade on this. A good enough jack russle could have overcame that draw. My meaning: It wasn't the draw that was the problem, it was the horse. I didn't bet on it, and I don't think I ever will.

Seriously, pick your own horses and learn from you own mistakes. There's nothing worse than taking a tip blindly, because that's exactly what you're doing here with this horse, backing it blindly - there's nothing to suggest going near this thing in the near future. The only reason you're still taking an interest in it is because it was a tip, by the time it wins you won't make back what you lost on it.

I'm not trying to be ignorant, or trying to give out to you about this tip - I never got on and I never take tips unless I weigh up their chances first, and that is what you should do first mate.

In saying that...there's no problem in passing on tips that you get from mates etc...it's just important to give us background i.e. a mate who works for a stable.,..or knows an owner...or who gave you a big winner before etc....

We're not trying to know ya down mate, it's for your good as well as the rest of us.

i know what you are saying lads and i didnt back him today because i was stiill in bed from a succesful day yesterday and if i wasnt then i would still not bet on him.but i think it is different giving tips on a 25/1 shot and losing than givin a 9/4 tip on a loser.but i totaly agree when sjones said that you should always look at the horse yourself before the race.

I'd tend to disagree with you there, your balance looks exactly the same no matter what price a horse loses at. Don't be fooled into thinking that a big price tip is better that a lower price one, it's the quality of the information that matters regardless of price. I'd rather have a tip for a 1/10 winner than a 100/1 loser any day.

of course anybody would rather have any winner than any loser why wouldnt they.but people tend to put less on a 25/1 shot than a 2/1 shot therefor lose less money. i would bet on any 25/1 shot that was given as a tip and put maybe just a euro on him.if it loses wow thats only one euro gone but if it wins you have 25 euro thats what i am trying to say.
