doublechance tourney question?

Okay, im biting the bullit and heading into the Macau tonight - keep waiting for the other buddies to head in with me - but thats not looking too likely, so off I go.

theres a 50+5 double chance freezeout on there tonight, and I just have some questions.

As far as I know a double chance is that you start with a half stack, and at any point up to the first break you can take the other half. is this correct?

Secondly, I think the starting stacks are normally 1000 at the macua, so in a double chance does that mean you only get 500 / 500, or is it 1000 / 1000????

And thirdly, what is a better strategy.... to take all the chips immediately, or do people generally leave some for later like a rebuy. I would think my personal preference would be to take it immediately if I can....

this will be my first live tournament, so any advice welcome...

1000 chips for a freezeout? horrible

you get half the stack and can take the other half anytime after the first hand up to the break.

I take mine straight away and play my normal game, the whole double chance is fairly pointless in my eyes!

i might be wrong on that 1000 chips, I'm not really sure, but I sent an email to these guys, and they said that that was the normal starting stack, although he did mention that it varied.

Is there any macau regulars here to verify any of this??

The double chance seems pretty pointless to me as well...

If the search function on boards is back try searching for double chance.

there's lots of different arguments on when you should take your chips

I played the Tues €20 re-buy there and they started with 1000 chips alright.
I presume/hope they give deeper stacks for the freezouts or else its very bad value imo...

okay, I only just realised that you can click on the tournaments in the tourney schedule on the website, it shows most of the details there.

For the 50+5 double chance, its a starting stack of 2500. Much better.

But as far as I can see, its not a double chance at all... its a 1 rebuy OR 1 Addon tournament.

So that's put a bit of a damper on it for me as i really dislike rebuy tournaments. Ill give them a ring later just to make sure, perhaps the website is out of date.

never made it in again last night... but valid reasons. I rang to confirm the details of the tourney only to find out the freezout wasn't on, it was a sattelite to the Christmas tourney instead... no thanks me thinks
Also got the keys to the new house last night.. went over with a few mates, had a few smokes and beers... sitting on the floor of an empty house....excellent

You should have taken a deck of cards and try and make some cash for the first mortgage repayment.:)
