I've been contacted by some Kerry poker players from this forum, seems theres a Casino opening in Kerry (ok now we can be *certain* that poker is taking over the world).

There is an opening night that I'm going to cover for Antesup and I was thinking that we always wanted to go on a road trip like Vegas or Barcelona etc but something more Irish Style! (You know, a Hiace, a crate of tinnys and an Irish flag :) )

Before we always think these things up on Friday afternoon so I thought I'd suggest it a few weeks early.

The lads behind this are regulars here and I'll let them discuss this here too but they contacted me in order not to appear as spammers and they are keen to welcome any fellow boardsters to the opening night. Which might be nice. :)

Anyway, my suggestion is that we get a car or two, get a crate or two and go on road trip to Kerry. Its a mini adventure! (Antesup will be taking photographic evidence enroute of course :) ).

Anyone interested? I think the launch if first week of December which seems a good time to get away from the missus before you are locked to each other for xmas! :)

    DeV.

not to ruin the rosemantics involved in a road trip, but wouldn't a train trip make more sense ...quicker?

Thats a very good idea. I don't mind driving but its nice to be able to have few beers on the way and driving back from Killarney with a hangover is not the nicest. Only problem is train to Killarney on a friday evening in Dec will be jammed.

Sounds like a great idea.... ..but are none of ye going to the Irish Christmas Poker Festival in the Macau that weekend??
Fri 2nd Dec: €500 NL FO
Sat 3rd Dec: €1000 NL FO

I don't have the bobs for that sort of buy-in myself, but would have thought a few of ye would be going... and would have thought you'd be covering it for Antesup Dev?

just to throw a spanner in the works ;)

Well we'll just have to go on Thursday evening then:) Macau buy-ins too pricey for me.
Has Killarney a tourney schedule yet, or will they tailor them to our requirements?

I'm a poor student. A crate of tuborg and a casino in kerry suit me much better. I also like the idea of heading down on the train. If we could get the afternoon train, even better (I know this wouldn't suit those of you who have those things, what are they called....jobs?)

Train Journey would be twice as long and several people would probably end up standing in the crumple zone. :)

BUT on the plus side we can gamble on the train tables while people look disapprovingly on.

Might be worth a half day on the friday to get an earlier train.

I will be in Cork for the Xmas fest that weekend covering it for Antes Up, although by the looks of it most of our readers will be too pissed to read it :D .

Just a note to clear up a couple of things and urge caution for a day or so.

    1. The planned date is the 2nd weekend of December (9/10). Definitely not gonna clash with Macau.

    2. The schedule is something along the lines of 100 fo Fri night, main event 250 fo Sat night fin Sun (good st stack and blind structure) and possibly a 100fo Sun night if enough interest.

    3. There may be a local problem with the date but Con is going to confirm today or tomorrow and post definitve dates here.

Great LPlate. I'll organise travel but I will be looking to you for guidance for accommodation.

I reckon we leave Friday afternoon if we can, friday evening for those with "jobs" (lol @ Marq!). We'll organise cars as we get closer to the date.

    DeV.

Wifes birthday on 10th. Wonder would she fancy a weekend in Killarney with drunken poker players. Rule me out, me thinks.

sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings lads, but unfortunately, our dec. date is not going ahead.,its reschedualed for early 2006. there are a few reasons for it, the most important being that we feel that we need to put more time into the preperation of the event to have it ,not only special for us, but to ensure that its a start of bigger things to come in killarney on the poker scene. sorry if ye feel dis-appointed but i promise we will make it up to ye.

as for the boardsters road-trip, we would be absolutely delighted to be chosen as hosts for yere trip.hopefully ye can wait a couple of months and we'll give ye a week-end to remember.
the proposed new date for our first mini festival is the first week-end in feb 2006, fri feb 03-2006(100 euro f/o,) sat feb 04--2006 (250 euro f/o).more at a later date. connie

Sounds good, we might take a quick trip to the Macau then and make it a quarterly outing? We'll see how things pan out.
