Has anyone bought any of these series from CDWow and if so are they the same type of packaging as in the shops?

On cdwow it says series 2 is amaray casing and series 5 is Single plastic brackley case??

I’ve bought Series 1,2,4 and 5 on Cd-wow. I’m not sure what type of packaging they come with in the shops but the ones on Cd-wow are excellent. 2 of the Series I bought had a standard plastic cover and 6 discs back to back on 3 separate "plastic casings" inside (similar to if you bought a 2-disc CD or DVD). The other 2 have a hard back cover and fold out on both sides to reveal the discs (similar to a folding road map).

cheers, I think they are all hardcover in the shops here. Which ones had the hardcover on cd wow?

Hey denachoman, did you have to pay duty when you paid €31 from cdwow ?

I’m not 100% sure but I think it was the later series (4 & 5) that have the hardcover. It’s beena while since I bought them so maybe they are all hard cover now. If you are buying from cd-wow make sure you check on www.dvdbargain.net/cdwowBestPrice.asp to find the cheapest cd-wow site.

I have bought over 30 times on cd-wow and never had to pay any duty.

In HMV, you'll often see the old release of the first season and the new release.
The new release is in a smallish digipak (i.e. it folds out and the discs are side-by-side when laid out).
The old release is a big box with six discs, each in their own case.

Avoid the old release like the plague. The episodes are in pan-and-scan (the new release has them in glorious anamorphic widescreen) and there are no extras.

^ yeah I want to avoid any of these digipacks. As far as I'm aware all the sopranos series in the shops here are all boxsets. I have series one already and was thinking of picking up a few on cdwow but it would be nice if they were all similiar packaging.

No, digipacks are the ones you want. Anyway, this isn't an issue with series 3 onwards... they're all digipacks, widescreen and with extras.

I bought 1 and 2 in shops. Nice hardback casing. Bought 3 and 4 on cdwow, they're came in a cheap plastic cassette with double sided dvds. Really ruined the collection.

Yes, they were cheaper, but not so much that they were worth the cheap packaging, esp not as a collection.

You missed out btw, Xtravision had great deals on the first 3 series a few months ago....

thanks for replying, that is exactly what I don't wont. Yeah I saw the €35 offer in xtravision, went down a week later to buy two and they had gone up to €50. I was sick :(
