Be honest now,do you actually care about your post count or join date.Do they make you feel special...or powerful? Do you regularly find yourself double posting or replying with 'LOL' to every Humour thread?Does it actually make a difference to you?

    Join dates matter.
There was a thread about this some time ago. I don't remeber exactly what verdict was but I think it was "not important but long time users tend to get more respect". One day I will have a high post count too and get respect :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

    lol,

[sarcasm]on a serious note, yes, yes i do care my join date is the most important thing to me it makes me feel big and older than people who have joined after me[/sarcasm]

since sarcasm doesn't work really well on the net i wrapped sarcasm tags around it to make it 100% clear.

post and join date mean absolutely sweet f a

yes they do matter. Since 2002, I've been making 0.73 of a post per day.

Where would boards be without my 0.73 of a post?

Personally no because i prefer to read what others have to say than spam like crazy, some nights i might be reading boards for an hour or two and have no compunction to post others i'll post away for a while then get bored and do something else. I can understand how long time users may get upset when noobs start getting uppity though. If you only joined recently or you have a low post count than usually that is their only guide to your contribution to the community.

People with extremely large post counts aren't sexy.Pigheads knees definitely don't tremble at the sight of a large numbered poster.
Post counts are a poor reflection on how much time and effort people put into posting. Someone posting single sentence replies or getting into the lol or rofl game or off-topic discussions in threads can rack up an extremely large post count very quickly, whereas those who take time to answer people's queries and questions and write many hundreds of words per post will find it takes them a lot longer to increase their post count.

I think deep down a lot of people care simply cause 3 stars or more looks damn finer that one or two :D
Although some of the older members to tend to :v: ........:p some members simply because of their join date. Don't deny it now...;)

I have to say more so then anyone else I find every single one more or less of Pigheads posts brilliant and well thought out. This is a man who never yields to spam and one liners.

There should be an award for....this sort of thing?

I dunno about the join dates and posts. I don't really care; but what really annoys me is the long time users, who have much less posts then me, who constantly accuse me of being a one line poster who writes nothing but "Mindless drivel" (yes you know who you are) :v:

My high post count simply comes from the fact that I waste alot of time each day trawling through these boards and posting. I can't help it if I post more then the next guy, I just happen to really like boards....

Perhaps there should be an option to turn on/off your post count? Or even have just the join date. Whatever. I don't think it's going to happen in the near future, even those who say it matters little to them, always take a bit of pride in their long time standing/posting stature in the community...:)

People with a lot of post do get more respect.

    Post counts do matter.
My join date matters but that's because i found my first interweb board then (iirc it was Bard posting in ie.comp about irelandoffline's proposed name).

Poll is going to be lied to, if join date or post count didnt matter than no BB software would have it.

My 2001 join date means I should have found something better to do by now!!

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

I think your inability to recognise the obivous humour is what makes you (the n00b) different from the more long-lived users.

Doesn't make sangre any better than you, it just means you've got a bit to learn ;)

the most enjoyable thing about my join date is that it reminds me of when i first played counter-strike when the irish scene was booming.

In a way they matter, but not so much so that we couldn't live without them. They help you gauge how much X "contributes" to the online community.

Jaysus Mobile how do you even manage to have dinner between posts? :D
Dubguy, I have slightly less than you - 3.13 posts per day. Should I increase my posting to match yours to avoid underspamming? Would somewhere between 3 and 5 posts/days be optimal? Maybe in my case 0.1 would do? What do you think?

It's easy to get a high post count if that's desirable, just hang around Humour and go "He he class joke :D " on every single joke...

There used to be these two threads in after hours. One was called "What do you know about the previous poster?" and the other was "And then". They were long long threads which definitely doubled most people's post count!

None of that matters in the scheme of things

    What really matters is

    1. How much money you earn
    2. How good looking your girlfriend(s) is(are)
    3. What car you drive
    4. as above
    5. how big your willy is
