Sky Digital

howdy, just about to order sky digital tomorrow and im looking for some advice on what package/combination to get as its all a bit confusing.

They seem to do the trick of overpricing the small packages i.e 21 euro for two mixes of channels, so that the next one up, 4 mixes for 26 euro seems cheap. bastards!

Also, since when is sky sports or movies so pricey ? If I get 4 mixes of channels for 26 euro, it comes to 44 euro with sky sports 1. An extra 18 euro ? thats ****ing expensive for one channel.

Anywho, what are the most worthwhile channels ? Should I keep my cable or should I cancel it ?

    Any advice welcome!

I ordered sky last week, i got the 6 entertainment mixes for 30.50euro. If i was you i'd cancel ntl as you only really get 2 extra channels (ch4 and setanta) and thats costing you 20 a month.

And sky is half price for the first 3 months.

p.s. its take sky ages to come out and install it, i have to wait 2 weeks from when i ordered it.
they charge you 40euro for a telephone socket if you dont have one hear your tv.

If you get Sky Digital and then after a few months you cancel it, can you continue to get some channels for free?
If so, which ones are free?

BBC 1, 2, 3, 4 News 24 and BBC Childrens channels and regional variations.
    ITV 1, 2, 3 and regional variations...

    possibly a few others too..

I pay Sky €63 a month... I get the basic package, plus all the movie channels and also Film Four... no Sky Sports, I don't have much time for sport... and it seems a bit pointless as all the major sporting events are pay per view anyway.

youch...pricey. I think I was slightly naive in thinking I could afford sky digital! Premiership football isnt pay per view though is it ?

I really don't know too much about it... but don't they make the big matches Pay per View or something? I could be wrong...

I also get Sky+ for free as I subscribe to more than one premium package.

The pay per view games are nearly always the ones on a Saturday at 5:15pm and sometimes the 12:45pm ones. The 4pm Sunday games and the 8pm Monday games are on Sky Sports1.

Will you need a hdtv to take full advantage of that?

Yeah, you will. A special connector called HDMI is required on the back of it.
