i had Firefox 1.0.7, then i decided to try the beta, it served me well, then i tried the RC1 and it served me well. However with both of them adblock was not working. so i decided to reinstall 1.0.7. Now whenever i load it up in non safe mode it looks like this:

    firefox.jpg

does anyone know what the problem might be?

Default skin looks buggered. Have you tried switching to another one?

If that would be included in uninstalling firefix then deleting thr folder that it contained, and then reinstallling then i've done it. otherwise how is it done?

You need to actually delete the profile folder. Make sure to back up your bookmarks first if you can. The profile folder is located:
    • On Windows XP/2000, the path is usually %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\, where xxxxxxxx is a random string of 8 characters. Just browse to C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and the rest should be obvious.
    • On Windows 95/98/Me, the path is usually C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\
    • On Linux, the path is usually ~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default/
    • On Mac OS X, the path is usually ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxxxxx.default/

Uninstall Firefox, then find the folder that is relevant to your OS and delete it. From there, a fresh install of any of the versions of Firefox should work.

Make sure that you have set hidden files to visible or else you won't be able to see the Application Data folder.

Bit late now, but if you run
    Firefox -p
it gives you the option to create a profile / which profile to use
saves deleting until you have confirmed the problem.
