Hi I'm sending out my C.V. to accountancy practices and i just have one or two Qs:
Basically, what is the job like? what does it entail? Have people found it hard? Do you have alot less responsibilty than others? How have you been treated by say more senior members of staff?

Just general stuff would be great to get a better picture of the overall job. Thanks.

Not in a position to give the answers, but where are you applying to?... it's coming to the stage where I'll need to blanket bomb a few hundred accountancy practices with my CV... next bunch of deadlines are near the end of this month I think...

It depends on whether you're going to the Big 4 or not. The training is completly different in there.

You're more audit based in there, whereas if you go to a Top 20 firm you'll get exposure to all aspects of audit/accounts including tax.

As far as how I've been treated, its been good. You're always going to get 1 difficult person but people are generally very helpful.

Yes it is hard but if you use you're initiative you'll be ok.

I can't really speak for the Big 4, but my job entails doing accounts for sole traders to large companies in various industries.I could be given a box of incvoices etc. and told to make a set of accounts or could be given a full trial balance & nominal.
