Sounds like you have more money than sense, you don't choose a pistol by how good it looks. I know that sounds bad but I'm just being realistic. I hope when you say €6,000 that thats for your security arrangements for the pistol and accessories for it.

First thing you need to do is go to a gun club and find out there what pistol is to your taste. Talk to the members, you're not going to find your choice of pistol here.

im not to sure with the system but i cant see a super granting you a second licence for a pistol its hard enough to get one i cant see you producing a good arguments as to why you need 2 and a gold plated desert eagle might get a few frowns at the police station

    I have a STI GrandMaster .38 SuperAuto.

    Hmmm.!
    Odd choice..!

Isn't ammo a problem for them ?, 38 super is a bit thin on the ground,
    also according to STI ..

    (From the STI site.: )
Note on Ammo: The STI TruBor, and GrandMaster are designed and tuned for IPSC Major Power Factor grade ammunition. Factory .38 Super and .38 Super +P generally do not meet the minimum power and pressure levels required for proper operation of these competition grade firearms.

surely with the scoring system in IPSC.. 40 S&W or .45ACP would have been a
    more productive choice..: ?

Oh well .. , experts know best I suppose

Handloaded .38 super will make Major.

..... and there's no problem getting factory stuff, spoke to a dealer recently who had 15000 in stock.

I seen the P226 X-Five Open Class its a nice pistol, Id need to do some more reading on it and ask some users that have it and see what they
    have to say.

Saw the "X-Five open Class" in action at the Dutch Open 2005

Met the Owner (You would have seen him in the Sig Sauer Catalogue)

    http://www.heribert-bettermann.de/

    Nice Guy

What did he have to say about it?

Good points bad points etc ?

Nema, a 1MB image in your sig won't do much for your popularity on boards.ie.
Might be an idea to change it before a Mod takes action.

    Just a friendly suggestion.

All Good (seeing as he made it I guess)

Basically though the X-Five (Basic) is getting very favourable reviews everywhere just do a search and have a look. You cant go wrong with a sig

Personally I'm not into the Open Class or style of pistol so wouldnt change what I have. But if your interested then he is the guy to contact. Just mention the Irish guys that met him at the Dutch Open.

Are you actually in Ireland ??

And 6k is mental to spend on a pistol, the most to spend would be 1500 at the extreme most, I got my Glock 17 L with 4 Spare Magazines, A tatical Leg holster and Hip Holster made from Polymer and several other accessories and had change from €900 also got 500 rounds of 9MM with that

Compactness is the name of the game, I should have went for the Glock 17 as the 17L is a bit ugly.

Although the Glock 18 is a different story entirely ;)

Sorry Woody.... but all Glocks are ugly.:D :D:D

Pah. Nema, you ought to go off and get yourself a real gun.

    fwb_p40_3_g.jpg

*attempts to hold straight face, fails completely*
    :D:D:D

BTW, spending €1500 on a decent pistol isn't that hard - the P40 above would retail new for around that, and something in .22 like the AW93 would go for more:

Well, while up to about €2k I could understand, I'm not entirely sure what you're getting for the €6k. I mean, is that for the gun, a lot of equipment (sights, tools, carrying cases, glasses, shoes, etc, etc) and some ammo, or is that just the gun itself?

'Cos for €6k, you could get a damn fine pistol, fully set yourself up with the bits and bobs that you'd use with it, get a brick of ammo, a small library on shooting technique and send yourself off to the UK for a training course or two.

Er, no, that'd need a few more zeros unless you're talking about a 10m range. You could set one of those up for a few hundred, if you had a suitable room allready.

Also thanks to all for all youre input some was off topic and some was wired but thanks anyways :D
