As we come into the finale of the Ultimate Fighter Season 2, I am left with the indellible impression that there are certain things about Matt Hughes that should really appear on his tale of the tape - for example, the guy is an A-hole!

I don't know about the rest of you, but after seeing Matt in war after war in the octagon and his never-say-die attitude, he was certainly one of my sporting role-models. Now, while I have no problem separating the fighter from the man, did anyone else think that he came across like a tool on the show?

I think you're being too generous. He was a contradictive prick.

Examples please Mark (didn't watch the show)

Jason Von Flue joined his team as a replacement. On the first day, Jason busted his balls trying to impress Matt and Matt said that he had no heart. After a string of losses for Matt's team, jason fought Jorge Gurgel in an out and out war and won for Matt's team. Matt started to play chess instead of congratulating him. He didn't give him any props whatsoever.

Then he got onto Rashad evans for showboating in a fight, but it was ok when his fighter was show boating, running across the ring slamming people and it was ok for him to taunt Jorge Gurgel time and time again.

You really just have to watch the show to get the whole picture, it's hard to explain. But he was very sarcastic, cynical, contradictive and condescending.

While I think alot of his a-holness comes from editing. The fact that they can show so much does make him seem like a d*ck.

He reminds me of a guy who's top dog in an enviroment where being top dog is important. Even if it means your being a If Miletich is like that then I'd not want to train full time there. Franklin seems a much better coach.

I did read a quote somewhere with a guy saying that Matt is the guy you start out with. He gives you the edge and makes you sure you really want this and Franklin is the guy who makes you the winner. So a few months with Matt and a hell of a long time with Rich and Jeorge Gurgel's crew. Sounds good to me :p

Although I think the editing had a part to play in it.. There is just so much of it, I just think that's howw he always is. Even in his pre-fight interview with GSP he came across as cocky and disrespectful.
