I just spotted this in xtra vision for 269 euro (see link below) I think its not too bad a price as I've seen them elsewhere at over 300 euro.... Might be worth a look

Anyone know much about this Philips? Looks like a good alternative to the IPOD. I really like that LCD.

I have one of these... Nice little model, though you should be aware that you'll most likely have to download the latest version of the software used to transfer files across, as the copy that shipped with mine is borked in the extreme...

    €269..... pah. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Philips.html

5 gigs less but comes to €165... add shipping n it comes to around €200

They look good but seem to get bad reviews. As doodle said the software tis dodgy

not to labour the issue but this machine is the worst out of the iriver/ipod/creative bracket. it is a little cheaper but it's software dependancy can be a bit annoying i'd say. anyone got one? i haven't so i'll shut up now.

Do these hard disk machines (IPOD,Zen, et al) skip much? Can you go jogging with them? (I fear not)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,828 ✭✭✭unklerosco

I've never had one skip on me..

I've got a Creative Zen NX and it recommends you don't go jogging with it. Its never skipped, ever and I love it !!!!! :)

I bought one today and its savage I've used it all day and I've no complaints so far. It really needs the usb 2.0 to keep it fast for transferring over to it but other than that its great

my best purchase this year so far. I bought it to put into the car and link it throught the car stereo.....

never jog with a harddrive, never jog with a harddrive based mp3 player. The odds are you won't cause damage, but do you really want to risk your brand spanking new player? Harddrives have been known to be quite susceptible to damage via shaking, so jogging is a no-no.

a few days on and after daily use I'm lovin it. As regards the genre etc that is in the id3 tag on the mp3 file. if you want to put them into albums you do the same thing

Can these be used like USB keys to store data as well. Also do they have a radio built in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,237 ✭✭✭darragh o meara
