passed by it yesterday. It said opening Thursday 25th.
Can't remember the time. It is located around the corner of Jury's Inn on Moore Street. About same size as Blanchardstown.
The usual special offers in the window.

Nope. All gone. Not a sign of any techy stuff there at all apart from some 30" LCD Tv's. That was at about lunchtime.

Really busy. I toddled into ALDI and its as quiet as I've ever seen it there.

A few speaker sets and wireless keyboards were all that was left there.

did someone mention on another thread about a good offer for a phone in Adli or Lidl?

Didn't know Lidl were opening in the city centre. It means me, a carless boy, will finally get to see a Lidl shop. Given the amount of appartments in the area, many folk not on superb wages, I can see it doing very well.

It wasn't like that at 9 this morning, the place was ripped apart :D

I passed the Lidl, it looks like a much nicer, more modern store, I'm sure it will do very well.

A Lidl on the Southside? Gasp!!! ;)

I'm also a carless wonder so we used to traipse out on the bus to Blanchardstown to get stuff and it was hellish, because let's face it Lidl is hellilsh most of the time without adding long bus journey into the equation!! The last time I bought stuff in Lidl I got it in Waterford and brought it all up on the train. Desperate measures and all that :D

Aldi specials start on Thursdays and most of them would be gone by the weekend at the latest so Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays would be the time to go if you are grocery shopping (if anybody does that there?) and a quiet shop.

Great tip re the specials in Aldi -

I wasn't aware that they started on a Thursday!

Any chance anyone knows what day of the week they start in Lidl?

In Aldi and in Lidl the specials originally where available from Thursdays. Then in a move to differentiate themselves a bit and to add some more "attraction" Lidl introduced a second "specials campaign" which now starts on Mondays.

The specials are always pre-announced in the week before they will be available and both Aldi and Lidl send now e-mails (to subscribers) with the specials and show the list of psecials on their websites.

    The websites are

    www.lidl.ie
    ireland.aldi.com

Sometimes it can be interesting to look at the UK or the German websites to see the _real_ price. Lidl seems to stay close to the prices in Germany. Aldi can be significantly more expensive in Ireland than in the UK and the UK price is always above the price in Germany.

The specials in the UK and in NI are in most cases the same as the ones in Ireland in any given week. However, there is typically a 1-3 week delay between Germany and Ireland (Ireland 3 weeks later than Germany).

In Germany there are Aldi Fan-Clubs, books have been written about Aldi and Lidl and you can find lists that specify who the REAL manufacturer of Aldi or Lidl food etc products are. VERY interesting when you find out that many many products are manufactured by very well known brands!
