    just set up a new p.c. using some parts from my lold oving gateway!,
    nvida motherboard athlon processer......the usual suspects,
    2 my amazment
    whilest trying 2 install windows my p.c. freezes me thinks its a problem with the dvd-rom but if i could run xp on my 6 year auld p.c. with out trouble why i
    wont it read the disc now!!!!!

    p.s. its being read fine in the bios!!

    do you have anything else to install? Windows 2k for instance?? Firstly its better but also as a test even.. if it installs then might be disk.

    Where is it freexing? If its on hardware detection then might be dodgy hardware!!

    Often found this issue to be a bit of Ram, try removing one stick and then try installing, alternate ram till you find which is causing the issue.

    switched the ram round used different cd-rom drives removed alll pci cards
    changed hard drives round
    bios reads them all fine but when i try and install windows xp it freezes when it says set up is now starting windows
    i'm now novice i used 2 salvage parts dismantel p.c.s and build p.c.s foer a living!!!!!! :confused:
