first off - sorry if this is the wrong area but couldnt think where to put this!!

Im ordered stuff of cd-wow.fm on the 12.11 and was dispacted on the 15.11 and havent received it yet, have emailed them and they asked me to wait a bit longer but normally receive stuff within 5 days from them.

The I ordered off amazon on the 16.11 dispatched 17.11 and again no sign of it.

So either my postman has increased his dvd collection or I dont know what going on but has anyone ordered stuff around the same dates and received it yet??

And last but not last, do they normally replace items missing in the post, i would mind but these are xmas pressies about €100 quid worth. nothings ever simple

I think that there is a problem with mail coming from the UK to Ireland. An order I made recently from Amazon.co.uk arrived almost 20days later. I contacted Amazon during that time and there were more than willing to send the items again. I asked them to hold off for a while and sure enough the original order arrived the next morning. God, I'm so honest.

I am currently waiting on an order that was dispatched from CDWow last Monday 15/11.

I once ordered something from CDWow which never showed up, and when i told them that they sent another one. Wouldn't worry about it to be honest.. will probably arrive soon.

Deliveries from online companies have gone to hell last time - there's a great bitch about it on the Half Life forum.

I got stuff posted from Canada on the 25th of October - no sign of it. Other stuff posted on 10/11 only arrived yesterday and my Half Life 2 DVD, posted last Monday, still hasn't turned up. I'm blaming An Post personally as they're the only common factor and I can't believe Xmas post is that bad yet!

To be fair, from both they say 7-10 WORKING DAYS, so they are both on course.

right so, i'll suspend my panicking. I've bought stuff for a couple of people on my CC and they are looking for their orders as well.

at least cd-wow if your right there ken mc will replace it. There was me thinking I was great ordering things for xmas early!

I think it's down to An Post. I only use play.com but have noticed that over the last two months things have slowed to a crawl. Where as in the past, delivery's usually took three or four days, they're now taking up to two weeks. I ordered a couple of book from there on the 6th and only got them yesterday.

Hmm, I ordered a couple of books from Amazon a few weeks ago which arrived about a week after they were dispatched :/

Postmen find books too much effort, especially when they have so many DVD's to watch and copys of HL2 to play.

I ordered stuff on amazon friday, normal postage and everything arrived today. 5 days for delivery is pretty sweet, considering it was all my christmas shopping (two huge boxes)

actually i got a copy of the live aid dvd for 25 euro which was sweet and it was delivered in a couple of days!! \0/

Ok, now I'm not so happy. One of my items - the one from amazon is the star wars trilogy which wont fit through the door i'd imagine so now i'm thining either my neighbours or the postie are feeling the force!

If its something big they cant leave it. If no one is there when they deliver you get a note telling you to go to the depot and pick it up or call to arrange another delivery (at your expense i think).

I ordered the Seinfeld dvd from amazon uk - despatched on 1st november, I'm still yet to receive it. I've dealt with the notice in the letterbox and collection from depot thing before but there's no sign of any notice. It's very annoying

I contacted depot in Rathmines last week, told they keep records of undelivered items, but they couldn't inform me as they were closing at the time. I'm limited in my capacity to ring the depot before 6 because of work, so the fact that this has dragged on so long is really bugging me.

It wouldn't be so bad but i ordered a dvd from amazon.com last month and it arrived in about a week.

This must be some problem with an post package processing??

I bought the Seinfeld dvd in HMV last week after being fed up of waiting, but I'd rather like to recieve the package so I can return it and get my money back!

I'm currently waiting on stuff from a couple of websites-- post has definitely gotten slower in the last few weeks, which ain't good cos I need a lot of stuff for presents!

CDWOW shipped 'I,Robot' to me over 2 weeks ago & I just got it yesterday-- usually I get their stuff in 3 days.

Play.com shipped stuff to me last week, no sign of any of it yet, but I don't order from them regularly so I don't have any reason to think it'll be faster than 7-10 days like they say.

I've other stuff coming from Japan & America, both shipped early last week, and again, nothing so far, but I'm not worried-- Amazon.com will replace stuff if anything goes missing. I'll be pissed if my Nintendo DS goes walkies!

It's everything really... I've had all my orders slow to an absolute crawl lately... Stuff from play.com and amazon, and even something from America have all showed up 2-3 weeks late. Still waiting on some stuff that was sent out earlier in the month.

It's definetly An Post who I blame, but don't worry, it all seems to be getting through, albiet very slowly.

stuff from amazon came about 10 days after being ordered this week. am stillwaiting for stuff from cdwow which were ordered the same day.
thing is, i got my fast show season 3 in 2 days. buffy season 6 still no show, and it was a pressie for the missus's birthday, which she is not too thrilled with.

of course, im still waiting about 3 weeks for a Dyson from tesco, so who knows what the hells is going on :)

I would of thought mail would be slow as it is coming up to Chrissy?

yeah, am putting it down to that too but up to about 2 weeks ago everything was coming as normal. still at least its not just me!

dont think i'll be ordering anything else now this side of christmas just to be on the safe side!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,872 ✭✭✭segadreamcast

Yep, nearly everything took more than two full weeks to arrive from Play.com to me - one of the six items took over two weeks. Fairly annoying!

I sent play an e-mail when I had went 15 days without a delivery - and they promptly dispatched another one. The next day though, the first copy of it arrived! The e-mail said to ring them in such an event - so I did. However, the number was a UK number - and not a freephone! The call cost me just over €4, more than half of the DVD itself (€7). I e-mailed them regarding this (I'm fairly annoyed that I've been penalised for honesty) - still awaiting a reply - and we can hardly blame An Post for e-mail backlogs now, can we?

    somethings deffo amiss

im waiting nearly 2 weeks for a dvd from amazon.co.uk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,179 ✭✭✭samo

Have any of you's emailed them (cdwow/amazon), I sent amazon an email on Monday and they replied tuesday and said give it till tomorrow but today I received inkjet cartridges that were posted from the UK the 22.11 so thats only 3 days!!!

it is a bit odd that it just seems to be dvd's etc that are taking so long, there's no issue with customs or anything with cdwow/amazon by any chance???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,756 ✭✭✭vector

Items are always arriving from the UK where I work, over the last few weeks I've noticed that anything that could be called an letter/large envelope/jiffy arrives in the usual 4 days, but anything larger that could be called a package is taking an unusually long 14 days.

The order from Amazon that arrived today in Dublin (sent Monday) was a package

    Bollocks! From Breakingnews.ie:
An Post workers vote in favour of industrial action
    26/11/2004 - 16:18:24

Workers at An Post have voted in favour of industrial action by a margin of 91%.

The Communications Workers Union has given the company seven days notice of its intent to take action.

It is feared the move could disrupt mail in the run-up to Christmas.
Utter scum! Say goodbye to your online deliveries everyone frown.gif

wooh! everything i was waiting on arrived between today and yesterday - only problem is there is a 2nd star wars trilogy winging its way to me that i now need to post back to Amazon! Apparently cd-wow had problems with anything posted 13/14/15/17th Nov but how or never faith in all concerned been restored!!

Ho hum. Speaking of backlogs clearing, I got my DVD boxed set yesterday that was shipped from Canada on the 25th of October. It seems An Post suddenly came across a huge treasure trove of stuff!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,292 ✭✭✭gonker

just an aside I received a dvd ordered from cdwow today and it was posted in luxemburg and had stamped tax and duty paid in the eu on it  All other stuff i have ordered comes from hongkong.

I don't think it's An Post, I regularily get things sent from the UK, the usual time for delivery is two days (if the package bigger than a play.com jiffy bag; then 3-4 days). When I order from play.com, it's 6-7 working days. I'm under the impression that play.com have some sort of deal with the courier they're using, probably getting mega cheap shipping at the expense of delivery time.

Keep in mind Play is based in Jersey, so that they avoid that nasty VAT. :D
This could add a day to delivery times.... maybe.

The question being asked, however, is why have their delivery times deteriorated so much recently? Orders from play generally arrived within 4 working days. Usually 3 was enough. Been waiting ages for a delivery from them. At least 9 days.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 18,115 ✭✭✭✭ShiverinEskimo

If play dispatch another one and the original shows up. DOn't ring. sell the spare one on for your troubles. They have no tracking..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 270 ✭✭Bass.exe

 But that would be unethical! :D

I never got my goodies delivered within 3 or 4 working days, neither has anyone who I've talked to. 5 working days minimum for us down in Cork.

Ah, well there you go then. That's An Post's fault.
All deliveries to the east coast arrive within 3-5 days (or rather, they used to). And since all the orders come to Dublin, then get distributed, by An Post, it must be An Post causing the delay.

I use cdwow all the time and the only problem I have ever had was/is GTA for which they gave me a 3eur voucher. They only shipped it yesterday blamed it on the demand said the where left short. I bet the english deliveries where sent first.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 509 ✭✭✭Pinkchick03

I ordered a book last Thursday/Friday and I got it Monday - ordered it off play.com. CDwow generally takes about a week or so but not much longer. Ordered DVD boxset and was emailed to say that it is out of stock but they should be getting it in, they kept emailing me telling me new expected dates of shipment. I was just nearly going to cancel when they sent me an email saying it has been shipped - yippeee ;) Just out of interest do many of you buy pressies on the net? Maybe I should start a new thread for this!
