Office 2000-2002 PSTPRX.DLL madness

Okay, my head is about to explode. Trying to fix a relation's laptop, which was working badly before I tried to fix it - now worse:

    Anyway problem is:

Outlook comes up with following error message:

'Unable to start processing services. The .DLL file for the information service could not be found.
MAPI was unable to load information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured'

    Have googled and tried various:

    - registry fixes - settings were already correct
    - repair Office + re-install Outlook
    - Applied all service packs and security updates

    Background info:

Low spec laptop running Windows 98SE, fully patched. Anti-virus up to date, spyware checked.

This is where it gets messy: Has Office 2000 Small Business Edition Installed, also has Powerpoint (as SBE didn't have it) installed from Office 2000 SR-1. Recently got IPAQ with Outlook 2002, so that installed too.

Discovered Outlook 2000 and 2002 both installed, so uninstalled Outlook 2000.

Also has spambayes 1.0 plug in and AVG (with Outlook plug in) installed.

Really don't feel like re-formating and re-installing for this. Have a feeling completely uninstalling all Office and re-installing mightn't work.

Thinking of scrapping Outlook 2002 and re-installing 2000?

    Anybody any pointers/ideas?

    Dave
