Tips to help shorten ones day

Work days are long and often pointless, but needed in order to keep oneself nourished and used to a decent lifestyle. However, there are better ways of earning your money, in your job, with doing as little as possible.

Please type your ways of skiving, and getting paid for it.

My favourite is going using the toilet during the day, not at lunchtime. It gets you away from the office/site, you get to sit down, and you get paid for taking a dump. Win Win?

    lots of cigarette breaks.

if you don't smoke, pretend you do.

i work weekends so there's no management around so i find the bog and a newspaper is a good way to pass a few hours..

actually posting on boards.ie makes it seem to people in the cubicles opposite that i'm actually working.... if for some reason they wander in your general direction a quick alt-tab and you're back to work.....

    From 'Office Space':

    Bob Slydell
: You see, what we're trying to do is get a feeling for how people spend their time at work so if you would, would you walk us through a typical day, for you?
    Peter Gibbbons: Yeah.
    Bob Slydell: Great.
Peter Gibbbons: Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh - after that I sorta space out for an hour.
    Bob Porter: Da-uh? Space out?
Peter Gibbbons: Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

Last place I worked in we used to (all in my department) go out to the pub - get pissed - off to nightclub - back into work at 4am - get something to eat - sleep for a bit and then off home, after a hard nights work. Twas a hard job tbh.

This is the strategy i adopted in my old workplace.
Its so effective at passing an hour, and anyone ya meet along the
way is fair game for a chat about football or current affairs.

In my last job, I used take a wander to the company down stairs, and loiter at their desks.

Either that, or I used to go out into the trucker yard with a delivery docket in my paw, and look flustered. It could buy you an hour.

Oh, and URGENT postage. The traffic is always murder, and the queue, well that was so long it just wasnt worth coming back for the last hour.

    Suckers.

The only way to pass the time is on boards and emailing people! I looked up movie trailers yesterday (yes I know, I was realllllyyyy bored!) I looked up Shark Tale and found video clip of the cute shrimp pleading for his life - you guys should watch it - it is hilarious! Go to http://www.sharktale.com/main.html and select video's and select "Watch Movie Clips and featurette" and you will find on that page the "Eat the shrimp" clip!! The other clips are good to watch too!

Any other suggestions of how to pass a few hours? I have been on that tickle website before (when I was bored in college) but quizzes are great fun!

    Ciao
