    John

Are you seeing some sort of hidden advert that I'm not?

SolitaryMan666: They are legal to use, but distribution of copyrighted software/music/videos is illegal, therefore if you actually download anything its most likely illegal :)

Oh, please, my eight year old sister could tell you what Kazaa is...

And for the really uneducated, there is the whole matter of "Sharman Networks Ltd does not condone activities and actions that breach the rights of copyright owners. As a Kazaa user you have agreed to abide by the End User License Agreement and it is your responsibility to obey all laws governing copyright in each country" being right down there at the bottom of the main page.

If this guy is an idiot enough not to understand something as clear as that, then he shouldn't be allowed to look at a computer, let alone sit in front of the keyboard.

As a Kazaa user you have agreed to abide by the End User License Agreement
Dose any one actually read those End User License agreements? If ya want to use the piece of software then ya got to agree, even though you sign your life away in most of them, people still use the software.

    Just my thoughts.

At least www.allofmp3.com pays royalites to artists. You pay $10 per GB, you select the format and bitrate of the downloads. Quality commercial service that has been around for years...

Is the website legal - yes
Is downloading the software legal - yes
Is downloading licensed music for free legal - probably not

Think your replies were very ott doodle sketch.

One very negative aspect of music piracy:

New band aid single -> all money to charity

Is being mass downloaded illegaly -> no money for charity.

Well, I know enough to know that if I have a question about a website its often a pretty good idea to look at the website itself, or, God forbid, Google it. see that quote I put up there on my second post? Took me a whole 3 seconds to find that, right down there on the bottom of the first page it was. And if you did see it, you didn't pick up on the fact that they are suggesting that its being used for illegal purposes? Please...

Knowing how to empty your Recycle Bin or install a program isn't enough in this case, there is also issues of copyright law, as well as moral issues in the case of a lot of the files being distributed.

Nobody is buying that for the music, since it is pure sh1te and all, so why would they bother downloading it?

Around 45 percent of files downloaded from Kazaa compromise security, according to the latest research.
Not forgetting that many kazza files have the wrong names.. And some of them may contain things unsuitable for children and others contain stuff that is illegal for adults..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 270 ✭✭Bass.exe

I'd advise extreme caution downloading anything via Kazaa. That being said, if you're just stealing mp3's, there isn't exactly much that can be done to your computer (virus-wise... they could possibly still trace you and sue your ass... but not likely to happen). Kazaa is a piece of crap anyway.

Wow, i'm amazed you can fit so much ignorance into one thread.

"Is downloading this stuff that I'm meant to pay for illegal?!? I know loads about everything but I just couldnt figure it out! I mean theres this magical search engine called google but i'll be damned if i know how to use it. Also, these other things known as newspaper, tv, radio, word of mouth, common sense and the law! How should I know ?

Of course not. There are many millions of sites that have MP3's for download legally for free. For example our own site, http://www.newcoloursoul.com have MP3s for free, but there are still copyright issues, and while you can download for free for your personal use, you can't distribute them or make profit from them.

As a general rule, if it's 'commercial' music it's illegal to download for free.
