I was just browsing my Credit Card account and saw a payment of €298 to a crowd called Globalfitservices. Doing a search in google didn't give many hits, but what I did get was very interesting. On another bulletin board at www.fool.co.uk , it seems that this scam is rampant. Nobody seems to know how they got the CC numbers. I don't know if there is any way of getting this info out into the rest of Boards.ie? Check your cards now.

What happens is that when you scan your credit card wherver (say in some small shop), whoever does it takes a swipe of your card. Your details are added to a list, which is then sold to the highest bidder several months later (makes it harder to trace back) and from there its used.

Its been doing the rounds in Galway lately, with a fair few people getting stung like that.

Just looked at the site, Globalfitservices.com

And they seem to confirm that people are being billed by them without buying anything and they will help if possible, hmm...................

They took 360 Euro from me last week! I am now in contact with my credit card company to get the money back. I also checked the website Globalfitservices.com and it is real bull****

Hopefully I will get the money back, but I believe most of the people don't even realise that they get tricked by these ****.

Credit Card companies are insured against fraud. If you didn't make the purchase, you won't have to pay for it. Simple as that. Housemate was in Kenya a few weeks back. While he was there he received a call from Mastercard querying the strange activity on his account - they thought Kenya was strange but when petrol was purchased in Brazil 8 hours after food was purchased in Kenya, they got extra suspicious. A few purchases were made here in Ireland too while he was in Kenya. Refunded all of them of course.
