Surely, the doctor / hospital who diagnoised you can put you in touch with a support group / specialist.

As for "treatment" Dr. Derek Freidman based in Ranelagh is metn to be one of the countries top experts, if you are not happy with your own doctor.

sorry to hear about that..wouldn't wish it upon anyone..have you tired looking around for maybe a group to talk to about it...?they might be able to point you in the right direction, i dont know of any off hand myself , but i'm sure ur doctor or an STI clinic could point you in the right direction...again, if i come across as patronising i apologise, but i really am sorry to hear about that, and i hope you find the help, love and support from your friends and family that you need.

HIV and AIDS are not what they were 10 years ago, and the various options, treatments you may decide to go on, and the decisions you will have to make, while complex, are well worth your time researching before taking anyones word for it.
But remember, all of those can and will wait till your good and ready.

my best advice? ask lots of questions and buy a little dictaphone {cheap one from argos} docs wont mind you recording the consultations to listen to again later or to refer back to, it saves them repeating themselves and gives you time to take in the info.

also, when you say "full blown AIDS", do you mean you have tested positive for the HIV virus? Its a big difference that you need your doc to explain to you. You especially need him to explain "viral load" to you, it helps you a lot when you can understand what they are talking about.
Even the best docs somtimes forget you are not medically trained.

Many moons ago (it seems like), I lost a partner to an ADI (AIDS defining illness), and recently another friend tested +.

I say the same to you as I did to him, give yourself time to research, ask questions and understand what it means for you, but, in YOUR own time, do not let anyone rush you.

I caught AIDS a while back,its really just a matter of hygiene getting rid of it. Wash your penis in Savlon twice a day for a fortnight and drink plenty of water. If it doesnt clear up after that go to the doctor,but its highly unlikely the infection will persist past a month at worst

Another method,which personally i didnt think much of,is the arsehair method. The theory goes that if you eat your arsehairs they float around your bloodstream catching the HIV platelets,and pass out of your body when your takin a dump. I tried it first,but i only started choking badly,so i stuck to the water and savlon

When my friend was diagnosed not long ago, he went back to work same day, had lunch in bewleys while reading the paper, is *that* innapropriate behaviour too?

Hell, whether he is genuine or not, *his* post did no harm, yours on the other hand was venomous and inappropriate, however unlikely you think it is, what if it *IS* true? how can u know for sure,...u cant.

Whether the original post is a troll or not, it is an issue which should be taken seriously.

We can be fairly sure that many of the people who read this thread are regularly putting themselves at risk of HIV infection, and even if it makes them think about their behaviour for a second (troll or not) it is worthwhile.

If the original poster is not a troll, there are a number of support groups available.
