Weird feeling in my upper back when working out.

Ok this is weird and I've only really noticed it since I've started really working the shoulders, doing front dumbell raises and the like. Anyways it's almost as if part of my left lat, around the shoulder blade area is being pinched or something, although I can actually get through the workout fine without too much discomfort. It was kind of odd feeling after the workout too, but it seems ok now.

I've noticed for a while that I get a weird pain there sometimes. It's quite subtle but kind of annoying too. It happens mostly when I'm in front of the computer though, so I'm kind of thinking it might be some sort of repetetive stress thing seeing as I'm used to playing first person shooters with the mouse and keyboard combo A LOT, although have cut down recently.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Or have any of you experienced this before?

Pain is your bodies way of telling you that there's something wrong. Go see your doctor.

Or ignore it, and find out in a year or so that your back is f*cked, and that you can never lift again.

Just go to the doc. You proberly know this already, but just want someone to verify it for you. It may be something easy to fix, like a bad chair, or it may be that your lifting too much / the wrong way. Good luck.

No, it's not a severe pain or anything, but more of a tingling. I do not consider it serious enough to warrant a visit to the doctor, as I reckon as I strengthen the muscle it will disappear. I never really work my shoulder using free weights except with overhead presses and the like, so I can understand why the muscle would have felt a bit of strain when I was doing front raises.

I was mainly wondering if anyone had felt something like it before.

I've never fellt anything like that before but for how long have you been doing your new routine? If it's for only one or two days then give it a week before going to the doctor because it may just be - as you already said - that your body is not used to this type of traning.

I have the same thing, except on the back of the left-hand side of my right trapezius. If I lightly run my finger over the area the skin feels numb, yet paradoxically when I poke it with anything with a point on it (like the end of screwdriver) the area is hyper sensitive and feels like I'm being stuck with a needle.

First got it about 3 years ago, but recently it's been becoming a constant annoyance, so I'm going to get it checked out by the doctor soon.
