    Hi guys,
I've been listening to a lot of Psychobilly recently and amazed with the skills of the bass playing in it. I've been playing bass on/off for 9 years and some of the scales are amazing! But its more the speed they're able to play at. Anyway, what I'd like to ask is:
    1) does anyone know who can teach me that style?
    and
    2) Would anyone be into setting up a band with that kind of sound? I'm pretty sure I'd have a singer/lead guitarist too! (and I'm not truly awful on bass either!) :D

    Thanks everybody

Saaaaaaaay! Who have ya been listening to? I've been into psychobilly since 1985 and have a humungous collection. Anyway, there are a few slap bass players in Dublin who might give ya a few lessons. Check out Dublin rockabillies Aces Wild if ya can...or psychobilly kombo Spellbound if they're playing. Other than that, there are a few instructional videos you can get. One is by Lee Rocker from the Stray Cats and another is called The Ungentle Art Of Slap Bass (....or something like that)...anyway, google them and tell me how ya get on. Oh, any bands yer interested in but don't have, then gimme a shout...I have em all ;)

Cheers Mate! I have a Bass guitar at the moment, but if I get far with this, I'll be trying to pick up a double Bass. Thanks again, will let you know how I get on.

Yes indeedy. A double bass is the way to go. You could pick one up second hand for about €600. The strings though if they ever break are expensive. Low end ones costing €40 each!!!

Hey Church! Go here http://www.psychobilly-online.de and join up via the community link to see loads of pictures of said festival and lots more besides!

The Meteors and Demented Are Go were supposed to play here last year but they both cancelled. Spellbound are the only psychobilly band I've seen play here recently. Tiger Army are coming in January though!

yeah i remember the meteors were supposed to play. not a huge fan of tiger army to be honest.

the irish guitarist lad from the klingonz and demented are go told us at the festival that they were planning gigs for christmas, i persume we was talkin about the klingonz but it doesn't look like its happening.
