Hey, im trying to get my desktop streched across my two screens so i can play x2- the threat (demo version, does that matter?) in dual display mode, in their unhelpful help file, they just say use the nvidia tool to do it, but im using an ati graphics card and it doesnt have any tools like that to strech the desktop, it just adds the extra monitor as extra space - no taskbar, different background, and different res. If anyone has any tips / tricks or any info on dual displays just give us a shout, cheers !

    funky,
its probably to do with the fact that nVidia desktop tool actually comes with preset configurations for a lot of the big name games today, there's is probably a setting such as this for x2 so you just choose that config and go. so with the ati im sure you'll have to do it manually, if its doable at all... im sure it must.... i'll get back to you if i find anything.

Just in case you were looking for one for yourself too: I found something that might be helpful, HydraVision on the ati website, it adds an extra maximize button on all windows so you can span them across the two screens, adds hotkeys for other functions like gather all windows to screen1, you can have 9 virtual desktops and a load of other cool nuff stuff thats handy when uve got dual displays

hydravision is usually included in ATI driver downloads, if you get the full versions.
Have you it sorted now or do I need to try and dredge that indormation up from my brain (I used to do it a few times a week, but it's been a while)? :D

    yeh, USUALLY....
but yeh now that you mention it, is there maybe some way i can move lets say Quake3 onto my second monitor, then run it again and have that one on the primary monitor, then i could spectate myself on the secondary screen and do all sorts of funky stuff :) !! I think x2 -the threat wont work on second screen coz its the demo version and that capability only came out in a patch for the full version, well ill just have to get it for christmas. Is there any other cool stuff i can get or any other games that use the two screens besides micro$oft flight simulator?

Hydravision is a piece of poo for multiple monitors. nVidia cards clearly have the advantage in multiple monitors with their drivers. Though I read that apparently the Catalyst drivers have the ability to play games across both monitors using the horozontal strech. Its suppose to be in either the Catalyst Control Centre or settings somewhere. I have never been able to find it.

If your running multiple monitors, get Ultramon aswell. Possibly the most fantastic piece of useful software I've found over the past year ive been running multiple monintors.
