Suse Installation Problems

This is really getting ridicuoous at this stage.

I am attempting to install Suse 9.0. Each time it bombs out at exactly the same point with a very unspecific error "An error occured diring the installation!"

I have tried all the installation options, eg manual and with acpi disabled. All resulting in exactly the same outcome.

Tried the cd on another system just in case and it works fine.

I have disconnected all hw except kb, mse and mon.

    Specs:
    ABit NF-7 MB (plain NF-7, not NF7-S)
    AMD 2500+
    512 PC3200
200 GB WD Caviar IDE HDD
    NVidia Geforce 3 64Mb Card

I suspect it may be some CPU issue but I am unsure. Are there any issues with other distributions such as Red Hat, Mandrake.

At the mo WXP Home is on the HDD. Would the hdd need to be formatted before installing SUSE? I assume you can do that through the Suse installation utility but I dont even get that far.

    Any help, suggestions appreciated.

    Cheers

why do you think it is a CPU issue?

No, the HDD does not have to be formatted before installing SUSE, as you said the installer has tools for doing all of that, and SUSE will be perfectly happy being installed alongside XP meaning you can dual boot to either Operating System.

I would suggest that you get your hands on one of the Linux live CDs and check hardware compatability with that. Some of the more popular ones are Knoppix, Mandrake Live CD, and Ubuntu, to name a few.
    Any help, suggestions appreciated.

    Cheers

    your welcome
