I'm about 17% into the game so far.
    I've just got
the Garage in San Fiero, and done the first couple of missions: Deconstruction, Driving School, and a couple for the Chinese blind gangster guy.

I'm wondering does the story switch back to Grove Street as there's a few things I'm still not finished there. I've got the relationship with Denise 75% complete, and I had taken over a couple of Gang areas from the Ballas but no there's no missions whatsoever to do in that area.

So have a missed out on some fun stuff or will I have a chance to go back later in the game?

You can just drive back to Los Santos any time you want without the story taking you there, but there's no gang warfare and not much to do until later on in the game.

Finish the woozie mission in Las Venturas to be sent back to missions in Los Santos.

Finish the woozie mission in Las Venturas to be sent back to missions in Los Santos.
That wasn't the case with me - I did all the ? missions in LV (last one being
    St Mark's Bistro
) and after that the Los Santos missions opened up. Am now on the mission Vertical Bird.

What I want to know is whether you have to complete ALL the
    oceans 11-esque heist
missions (I've only done 2) to progress to the final missions in the game?

Anyone know what % of the game the storyline/missions take up? Not including the unique jumps/oysters/horseshoes etc..

I managed to complete all the misssions except for the heist mission and got to the final one back in Los Santos.

You can come back to LV anytime to finish the Heist mission. It's not a critical part of the story.

You might get Woozie calling you to see if your still up for it if you leave it for a while though.

Cool - I've got a few days left to finish the game (before I have to give the PS2 back). I'm on the B-Dup level and I know the general gist of the next few missions are turf war related.

I'm looking for some turf war tips - is it better just to run around like a mad man or to be a bit more tactical - e.g. taking cover behind cars, searching for roof tops, sticking to same postion.

I have generally been taking the tactical path but I end up dying after the 3rd wave has been defeated and I need to approach the house. I use the AK-47 though I don't think I've reached hitman on this - will it make a big difference? Is it only the ammunation challenges that increase this skill level?

Another q - does health and armour spawn at random positions or is it the same corners each time?

And my final q - what's the best way to bring 3+ gang members with you to a turf war?

    Cheers for any advice.

    So many questions!

    Let's see.

Being a bit tactical works well. Get a bit of distance between yourself and the gang attacking. As they approach you, take em out one by one. If they get too close, they'll easily annilate you.
Alleyways work well for filtering them in slowly.

You can upgrade your weapons just by firing them. Shooting drug dealers, gang members and cops brings them up quicker than just shooting average joes.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I found that after wave one a health appears, after wave two an amour appears and after wave three a health and an armour appears.
They seem to appear in different places each time. Pretty much random. They will never be too far away though. Just search down a street or two.

I haven't tried this method of transporting gang members yet. I've heard it's good. Grab a bus and get as many members as you can into it. If an opposing gang member or gang car is about, they'll shoot it.
I don't normally bring gang members around as if they die, your respect can drop somewhat.

In gang wars the health and armour spawns randonly after each wave.

IMO the best weapon to use in the gang wars is the M4, good range and accuracy and the SMGs the other gang drops when you waste them reloads the M4, at least it does for me.

Gang wars get a group of homies , and ge t anice place close to a corner and defend it, crouched with AK will take out most enemies whilst running, cheap i know but its gang warfare.

Each wave gives you armour and health just usally close to the enemy spawn point, just keep solid cover close to you and let the homies be bullet catchers.

Dont worry about respect it will go back up when you take the area or complete a mission.

I'm stuck! I ahve no missions to do :(

    I've just
completed the mission where you chase and kill Tenpenny's partner in Las Venturas. I've none of the triad/heist missions available on the map mostly because I think I've not got the card/password off the casino chick you start to date.

Do I need to romance this girl fully before the heist mission will reopen? She lives at the very north of the map if that helps jog anyone's memory, the really kinky tart.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 396 ✭✭monomaniac

Hmmm... have you checked inside the two casinos?
Have you completed the Don Peyote mission with the two Brits (some great cameos there)? If so then the missions in Caligulas casino should have opened. You're looking for a small white diamond on the map (I almost missed it).

You don't need to date the "kinky tart" :D to open these missions.

Thanks for the suggestions but I figured it out, was missing one of the aerodrome mission. Now I've got teh
jetpack it'll be a while until I get back to the main storyline!!

    Couple of questions:
    1) How many horseshoes do you have? I have about 4. Do they make a big difference to anything? What about oysters? haven't any of them yet.

    2) Does it matter if you romance your girlfried(s) fully? Or is it just another little sub-mission?

    3) I'm "hitman" status with most of the weapons barring the shotguns. Is this the best possible?

    4) Anyone else find the flight training missions the hardest? Flying through those coronas was the hardest thing so far in the game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,295 ✭✭✭jonnybadd

    1.
I have all 50 horseshoes, they increse your gambling luck and span weapons. The oysters do nothing except increase your sex appeal

    2.
The gf's are just sub missions but worth doing as dating some of the girls gives you nifty rewards and are well woth it in the end

    3. I found it best to get hitman with all the weapons, just because really.

    4. personally I found the
    Flight School
    missions easy.

    Two questions guys:

    1) Does anyone know a way of getting the minigun without using cheats after doing the black project mission?

    2) I have finished story mode but never did the missions in Calligulas!? Can I go back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,295 ✭✭✭jonnybadd

    1. There are 3 spots where the minigun spawns i think. Unfortunatly the only one i can remember is in the south east of las venturas, rockshore east is teh name of the place. Its is in some scafolding 5 stories up you can climb up there or use the special vehiche.

    2. Im sure there is, a grenn/red dollar sign in the four dragons is your contact point

    robbing houses?
    i still cant do it..........
got me a boxville...... then what?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,295 ✭✭✭jonnybadd

You have to search for a house to rob, the ones with teh generic yellow marker outside can be robbed. Then its the same as in the early mission but you have to get back to the lock up before 6 am or you lose everything

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,911 ✭✭✭Zombienosh

    alright cheers

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 783 ✭✭✭Skellington

the boxville has to be black (in garden across from gym, is only one i've found) and ya can only start the mission between 20:00(8pm) and 06:00(6am)

Another question: When you're starting gang wars and you're taking over gang areas, how do you get a couple of your homies to join up with you?

I press 'up' on the joypad, and CJ says something like "come with me homie" but then the homies dont' come with me... am I doing something wrong?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,911 ✭✭✭Zombienosh

just walk up to any of the grove street guys( the guys in green) and with no weapon selected aim at them and press up, when theyre following if u R1 and down they stay.
it all depends on your respect too as to how much people you can have.

firstly, have ya got enough respect? ya can only get yer homies to follow ya if you've roughly 1/5 full respect bar... just kill sh*t loads of coppers, ballas and vagos' for more respect... if they do follow ya, dont run to far ahead as you'll lose them. jog slowly. and occasionally press up for cj to say sh*t like "over here" and "follow me"

secondly, dont listen to me ;) . i wouldn't even bother bringin them. they kill 1 maybe 2 gang members. or else they stand in front of ya and block yer view which gets you dead, fast  ... just start a war, then get to the nearest rooftop... tis the best option, imo... if they're to tall to climb, park a car tight to wall to use as a platform to get on a roof...

    good luck.

if that ^ doesnt work, just after you start the gang war, start running as if you were to run out of the area, *generally* all the guys will spawn behind you,and they will all line up to be be picked off easily.Preferably with an AK(as oppesed to some being generated infront AND some behind, making it more difficult and easier to die)

Thanks for the hints guys. I've got as far as the mission
where you go to Big Smokes's Crack Factory. You hve to struggle up 3 flights of stairs, loads of bad guys to kill, kill big smoke, have a chat to tenpenny, then tenpenny sets the place alight, you have to go alllll the way back down, extinguishing fires and shooting loads more bad guys, all against a fecking time limit, *and* you have to wair night vision goggle cos its all dark, which sometimes doesn't let you see the flames so you get burnt.

Then after all that and you get out of the factory, you have to chase Tenpenny who is in a fire truck, your brother sweet jumps onto the back of it and you have to catch him in your following car before he dies.
Anyone finished this mission? Its wrecking my head.

little hint that i found out to late:
if you dies or fail during the firetruck bit, you can just go back to smokes crack house and take up the mission again at the middle point (start of chase).I only found this out after, getting so annoyed that i didnt catch CJ's bro that i turned the ps2 off in disgust.
