ok i wanna get broadband but i dont know which is best  . i've heard utv offers a good package but with these things there always seems to be a hidden cost  . i assume, as im living in dublin ;) , i can potentially sign up to any of the major broadband services so any advice on them would be appreciated.
    thanks :D

If you happen to be in an NTL BB enabled area thats the way to go imho.

Check out the broadband forum, http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=259

I find UTV the best of the lot. They will take phone line and all...so only one bill...

They also give free off peak phone calls..... Free free free free free free

Also have Eircom, however it's the most expensive and has the lowest download cap, needless to say it goes in January after the year's contract. UTV is the cheapest for the cap and their phone calls look good also. However if I was to have a REAL choice it would be NTL, a friend 5 minutes down the road has it, I can't get it, it's NTL after all. So my advise would be to call NTL and to see if you can get their broadband, failing that go with UTV.

well you have to take into account that utv enforces its cap and eircom does not
eircom is probably the best dsl if you are a gamer

i didnt really realise there was a difference between providers. i just thought broadband was broadband :o. im just a poor student and cant afford much (im also a scab! :D ) so i would still be swayed by the cheapest package. now that said i would be using it for mostly games (enemy territory and the like) so i would like to get something that would suit.

I had Eircom but switched to NTL when my area came on line, have to say NTL is way better, faster and €5 per month cheaper plus the tech support is free...

As much as I dislike Eircom, they don't enforce the caps (at the mo) and their pings are super.
