Apparently Thai Airways are really cheap flying from UK to Thailand, they're really dear the other way around, plus their a quality airline by all accounts.
Want to do it cheap and nasty, try Aeroflot, or Air Pakistan(?), I flew by Malaysia Air which was reasonable and decent conditions on-board too.
I found it was cheaper to go through a travel agent then via the web.
