    Hi Folks,
Anyone know where I can get hold of a service manual for a '97 Honda CR-V ?

I'm looking for something like th eold Haynes manuals, but cant see one for the CR-V, and googling seem eto bring up nothing but american versions, which I guess are a bit different.

    Thanks,
    Declan

I've got a 1997 Accord , an Irish car and have looked into getting a Haynes manual but as far as I am aware tehy are only available for the US model Accord.

Pretty sure your 1997 CR-V is an import which might make things tricky for ya too !!

    Hi,
I've found the "Chilton" manuals, but they seem to be for the US version, as it covers both CR-V and "Odyssey", which I never heard of before, but is mentioned on some us forums.

And it is a genuine 1997 "irish" model, made in uk, I think.

    Hi again,
Its not a HRV, but a CRV.

I see honda.co.uk has online manuals for some models, but typically not the one I want. !

Some ebay manuals are ok but you want to ask the guy for few screenshots as many of them are just compilation of web info.

i don't have HRV or CRV only rest of the Honda models. Will check if I can get official Honda Service manual but this will take couple of days.

I think you can actually get them from Honda. I seem to remember the guy in Clonskea Honda saying something like that to me when I had a CRX. They give you photocopy of it or something.

Apparently the manuals are all electronic in the main dealers, and they just look up / print out the sections they need at that time. :(

Anyone know if the Chilton manual for the CRV/Odyssey is the same as the Irish spec CR-V .. Made in Japan I Think ?

Main dealers aren't great at giving information that might help you fix something you need them for. The eBay link Tommy V posted is where I'd be heading - I bought one of these for an Alfa 155 and it has the entire manual scanned in PDF format at high res.

Depending on what you are looking for, the Chilton Manual might help but the US spec CR/V is likely to have subtle differences to yours, it is almost certainly for automatic models and the emissions/engine management is likely to be different. If you are looking for how to get the rear diff off, or how to service it then Chilton will be fine as the US CR/V is structurally identical to the Jap/Eu version.

I have the Chilton Subaru Legacy manual and it is very detailed but the market differences mean that it is missing lots of stuff for EU models.

Why don't you tell us what you are looking for?

    Hi,
OK, my situation is that this CR-V has been dealer-serviced since new, but has now hit 100k miles, so I've decided to do it myself from now on.
There is nothing wrong with it that needs fixing right now, but since I have decided to keep it until it stops, I thought I would maintain it with the help of a haynes manual.
    - I'm no mechanic, but I am dangerous with a spanner. It would not be for any major jobs .. no engine rebuilds, or anything like that, just simple stuff like normal servicing, brake-pads, wheel bearings .. etc if and when they arise.

I used to use a haynes manual to keep my old ford fiesta & escort on the road, but again, just brakes and stuff like that.

I've just bought the "Honda Technical Information System CD" so hopefully that will be enough for me - will tell when it arrives.

    Thanks,
    Declan
