    Hi,

Just wanted someones view on this.I have been going out with this amazing girl for the last 11 months, met last xmas in judge ribeens in dublin.Anyways shes american and really wants to move home next summer and i want to go with her.But what do i do as i will be leaving my family and friends and what are the chances of getting a work visa in the states.Shes from the boston area and i get on great with her family and stuff but i hate seeing her miserable like this as she gets really homesick at times too.In the middle of all this we are also in the process buying a house in galway too for the future so what the hell do i do apart from marrying the girl lol.But marrying to stay with her in the states aint very romantic is it!!!!

The only non-marrying way is to get a Green Card entitling you to work legally in the stats.

The visa lottery has about 50,000 places each year and around 5 million applicants. Your chances are slim to none here.

Option 2 would be to get a company in the states to sponsor you for the Green Card programme. This normally happens with IT and medical staff. Bearing in mind that the process will cost your prospective employer in the states upwards of $6K, you really need to be a skilled worker or professional for them to want to do this in the first place.

Otherwise, marriage and joining the US Army are your only other two options I'm afraid.

You have to have a Greencard before you can join the US Army.
