    Hi,

Right I'm sick and tired of my bulky 3210, and want to change. But I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for something new and shiny. I am a fan of Nokia's (3210 is my 3rd Nokia). This time I am looking for something that has an IR port that I could use to communicate with a PDA. Along the lines of the 8210.

I just want the handset and not a contract. I am going to be throwing my 086 sim in to it. Anybody know of a place where I can simply pick a handset. I know I am not going to get the brand new phones, unbinded to a contract. But I would settle for something like the 8210 etc.

    TIA

PS: If anybody knew of such a place in Galway, that would make my life a whole lot easier. Cheers!

PPS: Oh crap, I just noticed where I'm after posting this, soz about that frown.gif

Yeah I thought about doing that back when the 5110 was just out. But it doesn't work!. You can't just sign a contract and break it as soon as you walk out of the shop. When you sign up for a phone contract, it's usually valid for a year. You can't use any other SIM in that phone for the year.

But I have no intentions on going on a bill mobile just yet (waiting until next year). But if there is a another way for us to get around it, them I'm all ears wink.gif

Not true. You just have to keep paying your monthly bill regardless of whether you are using the SIM they gave you or not.

Usually when people talk about bill phones there is a look of slight shock accompanied by a sharp intake of breath and the exclamation, "oooh no, I couldnt go on a bill phone"

Y not?? Seriously why not. My bill phone costs me half what I used to spend on the countless ready to go phones I had previous to it. My bill is around £40 a month at the moment and that enables me to talk as much as I need to in that month.

Its just not possible to get GSM phones cheap over here (over the counter) without a bill, unless they are stolen as far as I have observed.

If the bottom falls out of your world, drink Andrews and the world will fall out of your bottom!!
    games?

Yes I know I thought about going on a bill contact myself, but it wouldn't be a good idea.

You said you are spending £40 per month. Would you believe I'm spending about £10 every 6 weeks on speakeasy. I am not one of these ppl that says right I need to make a phone call, where's my mobile. When I need to contact someone the first thing I do is look at where I am (am I in front of a PC, usually am), or am I near an accessable land line. If not I'll use the mobile, and it's usually only if I'm out and about. Phones cost me bugger all. But I know if I was to get a bill contract, I would probably use it more, because I know the calls are much cheaper etc.

My mate has just finished working for Esat Digifone, and got a 6210 from work. He easily made £200 worth of calls per month. Well because we used to rob his phone and use it when he wasn't looking, but that just something typical of me, coz I'm such as scabby *******. Fukkit Esat were paying for it. But you can see I usually look at a dozen or so, alternative communcation methods and as a last resort I will use my mobile. That's how I've managed for sooo long.

Actually there is credit in my phone right now, but I haven't made a single phone call on it in the last week. I let them ring me wink.gif
