    Hi

Going to buy a PC which I want them to assemble as stated in previous posts

The budget is maybe a max of €1,000 at a max

It is for home use and what I use it for is

    Internet
    Email
    Burning (need a CD / DVD r/w)
    Printing

I also need enough USB ports to hook up Broadband modem / Printer etc
Also want speakers to listen to sound
Don't need massive amounts of memory enough to store images and Mp3's
Printer - Print out a few photos and CD covers

I have the windows xp pro/Nero applications

Got the below 3 quotes, which I posted previously.

However not sure if they are fleecing me in relation to CPU's etc
as I know SOD all about them, not that technically minded

Anyone advise which is the best buy and what modifications I should get
in relation to Cpu or Memory or anything

    Cheers

my advice get pentium 4 at least 2.8ghz or the best cpu to get is athlon64 about 125euro celoran is waaaay too slow for mulitimedia dvd burn u need speed 2.8ghz celoron is yellowpack cpu grossly underpowered in comparison with p4 or atlon athlon is the most p0werfulcpu 64bit for av multimedia,,,

    forget about celorons .

Get a p4 over a celeron. It's way faster for encoding dvd's. It's better than the a64 at doing this as well. If your not gaming don't bother with the a64. A 2.8 is plenty. Make sure that the socket of the mobo and cpu are the same as p4's are on s478 and s775.

Also why not get a dvd-writer instead of just a cd writer. They are only 10e or so more nad they burn dvd's and cd's.

I'd recomend this hard-drive as well. It's a lot faster than any listed and is a very good price for the size. 40gb's is nothing these days and will fill in no time.

Q-Tec Midi tower ATX L-MD02, Black

Stay away from anything made by Q-Tec. Very poor quality.

If u get 2.8 p4 cpu i,1 dvd writer u may wanna go for 1 that has dual layer capability, and 1 dvd drive ,both dvds same brand, u,ll have a good system for burning ,get 2.8ghz cpu at least,om that budget u cud get whole system from Komplett.u should be able to afford 3.2 p4 as in post above, for av dvds etc u,ll need at least 140gig hard drive,512ram ddr.3.2ghz cpu would be ideal.athlon 64 is cheaper than p4 ,but i dont know which is faster to be honest ,i,ve never burned any dvds so i,d tend to agree with bloodbath.re cpu.

I wud never buy plasma or tft cos in my experience crt monitors give better display, cheaper, and they can be adjusted precisely to ur display, preferences regarding, brightness, color, contrast, sharpness, cos signal is analogue,u can adjust anyway u want down to rgb outputs if u wish and u can watch dvds on a 19inch crt screen at a reasonable or even buy a hiquality monitor on boards.ie ,i think they r like cds there is a loss in quality fom analog to digital.try and get case with 2 usb 2.o connectors at front of case.very handy for usbdrives etc.
