Below is a letter from Barretstown about the computer that was donated to them from the SSF last year. Just thought you guys should be aware of it. I'll be launching the entire thing with A-1 GO! GO! GO! status this weekend.

    Hi Tom

It's great news about you guys considering helping us again this year,
and pass along our thanks to everyone in the SSF. The pc and equipment
were a huge surprise and of great benefit to us - they rarely turn up on
our doorstep! So rarely in fact our receptionist thought they were
'hot'. Each year we rely on the generosity of individuals (even the
slightly mad ones!) and companies to help us find the EUR4 million it
takes to run Barretstown each year. Over 98% of our funding is from
voluntary contributions and as you can imagine, the challenge gets
    harder each year.

The pc and camera you donated last year have been used in our
photography lab. This is one of our activities where we set the kids
challenges - such as a list of things to photograph in an hour. Also,
during the course of the 7 or 10 day session, the kids will take photos
of the various kids and activities and we put together a slide show
which we show in the theatre on the final day of each session. We badly
needed a new pc and camera to facilitate these activities as our older
pc was very out of date, and our camera had given up the ghost (again).
I am attaching a photo of Andrea Smitten (seated), our Photography
Activity Leader, and Aisling Farrell our Camp Programmes Director using
the PC in the Lab (I can send a higher res version if required)

Thanks again for your gift, and we look forward to seeing Santa visit
Barretstown again. Please let me know if we can provide anything else.

    Regards,

    Tim

That's their wish list, lets buy that*. If we're going to buy them more computers perhaps we should get them two lesser spec'd machines than one really good one. What's the story with holding a raffle for something good at the next board's beers? (I'm thinking Xbox and Halo2) I'd like to but I'd want the funds raised to go towards Barretstown.

    *Seriously, lets buy it
