    thanks,
found it on the site using the viking number. that price is excluding VAT, but you do get a free 900g jar of quality street.

it's also cheaper to pay the €5 delivery because the the order needs to be €60 ex VAT to get free delivery.

nice chair, think i might give it a go

Need a new chair and I'm a regular customer of Viking but was afraid of buying one without being able to try it out first. Can one of you tell me does this tilt back when you lean back on it? Or can someone recommend an even more comfy one that they have?

Along with many others, I got this chair last year. It's a fine chair, although I don't use it that much. Certainly worth the money. Paid approx €66 for chair and delivery - and got a small TV/radio and big box of teabags for free!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,717 ✭✭✭Praetorian

I got one about 2 years ago and another around a year ago. The build quality isn't superb, but for the price you can't really go wrong. I'm fairly sure the models available now are approximately the same. They do tilt back Blade, and they are very comfortable.

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!! What type of teabags were they????

Hmmm if they did a deal like that they'll probably do it again. I once got a couple of DVD players for 19 euro each off them, well thats what they worked out at after I sold on the cans that they came with.

So this chairs comfy then? Like comfy enough to lean back, put your feet up on the desk and watch a DVD on your PC?

though re: Quality Streets me thinks if I eat any more chocolate the chair might collapse

here ate work we ONLY ever order off Viking for the free stuff , then hide it when the delivery comes before, well the man who pays the bills sees them.

Yep me too. Don't forget to mention the large box of chocolate biscuits that was thrown in as well :D

Search boards.ie for the rather big thread at the time...

@Blade. The chair is grand albeit a bit hard. I sit on it for several hours a day and there is no sign of wear (over a year old)

Similar chairs go for about €200 - €250 in other shops

Got me one of these chairs during the summer- sitting in it as I type this. It does indeed tilt back. Self-assembly, 5 mins with the supplied allen key and yer good to go. Im a coder, so spend a good few hours each day sitting in it, grand comfortable chair. Dont sit in it naked tho, as Ive found my arse sticks to it after a while.

    Regards

    Ewan

Totally recommend this - they do a slightly different version for €59.99 but either one is ALL gravy. All your dreams come true in this mmm soft chair. Chairy goodness.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 395 ✭✭Bah

They're being backordered right now, but you can get it with the order code YDN-BOSS for €39.99 - no box of Quality Street, but it's €10 cheaper. Order YDN-PRCOFFEESET at the same time and you get a free coffe set thingy, with flask, cups, carrycase, etc.
Anybody else got free offer codes? Another one of those free portable tvs would come in handy...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,695 ✭✭✭Darwin

Nice one Bah, I just backordered with these codes...I could do without the quality street anyway, will be enough of that stuff going around at Xmas :)

hey lads does any one know where to get a recliner chair i really want one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,399 ✭✭✭OFDM

Got the BOSS chair - very comfortable but started getting as noisy as hell after a couple of days when I move around in it. Bit of a wobble in it too.

Yeah see this is what I was afraid of. I wouldn't mind spending more money on a decent steady chair if anyone can recommend one.

I must say I've no complaints with mine, sturdy as a rock! Got it for 48 yoyos in the end with no delivery charge and a free coffee set. Very pleased :D

Ditto. I find it doesn't give much in the way of 'lumbar support', but that's only because I'm very, very old & unfit... ;)

I'd also have to say that the imitation leather covering is a wee bit on the fragile side — I'm always banging the top RHS of mine against the door frame when I swivel 'round to answer the 'phone, and it's a bit gaffed after 6 months — but hey, wtf do you want, for €50...?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,964 ✭✭✭Hmm_Messiah

Had to return mine, fabric was torn near where you put one screws in, another on order, but looks like that fabric is both thin and stretched and can see ittearing again

    but sure 60quid :)

Probably best thing about Viking is how quick they are to take things back

I don't want to hijack this thread for my own means, but this is the only place I know I can find the people who bought the chair.

Does your chair go up and down? Mine tilts fine, but the up and down motion seems to be knacked. It's no big thing, the chair is fine, and for 45 yo-yos, can't go wrong. But if it's something stupid I'm doing, I'd like to know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,399 ✭✭✭OFDM

Pressing the lever on the right upwards and lifting your backside off the seat should make it go up. Otherwise it should go down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 743 ✭✭✭Renegade_Archer

    What OFDM said.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,475 ✭✭✭corblimey

Yea, that's what the instructions said to do, but my handle only goes in and out. It might go up if I push it hard enough, but it feels a little flimsy tbh. I just don't want to break it -- how hard do you have to push yours up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,399 ✭✭✭OFDM

As hard as you can, but remember that it's not a lever - it turns on a horizontal axis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,475 ✭✭✭corblimey

OFDM, the only free movement it makes is in and out. I can move it from straight down (wide bit at the bottom) to 90 degrees to the back but that's it. It shouldn't be that difficult, so I assume it's knacked. No bother, tho', it's the right height anyway

Must say, I'm mucho impressed with the chair. My mate got it for me (he's self employed so no VAT heh heh.
Very comfy and no squeak etc.
Only problem is getting used to it, when I swivel round to get up off it, I keep taking a lump out of the wall with the arm rest!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭neokenzo

Can you take out the arm rest? I'm interested in buying it but I dont think the arm rest would fit in my table.

I think somebody said previously that the arms cannot be taken off as they help support the backrest

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭neokenzo

Can someone measure whats the height from the floor to the tallest part of the armrest?

26 to 30 inches depending on what height you have the chair...
