Making DVD-R from DVD disks

Not sure how much sense the title makes but I'll explain.

I have come across some people with what they call DVD-R. My asumption is that they are DVD ISO's rar'ed (they seem to be all in 100 part rar'ed files) and that when you get all of the parts you extract the files andburn them onto a blank DVD.
Now, what I am wondering is how does one make them? anyone know?

If I did not make sense ask questions and I'll elaborate best I can.

    Thanx

DVD-R is a format of recordable DVD.

It looks to me like your problem lies in multiparted ISO images of DVDs. First you would copy an image as you would normally, then add it to a rar archive, specifying that you want a multipart archive, and set a set maximum size. When the archive becomes larger that this maximum, it will start to create the new file.

    winrar_multipart.png
This is taken from WinRar's "Add to Archive" screen, after you RC a file.

alcohol 120% (or whatever the new version is) should burn any image file for you.
just run alcohol and click on image burning wizzard

and you'll need winrar to unpack the image of course...

    /edit
or are you talking about making the images of a dvd?
    you'll need dvdshrink for that

The part that's highlighted....you can specify your own size there.

yeah, just type "10m" for 10megabytes
i think k and g also work (kilobyte and gigabyte)
set the compression level to "store", otherwise it'll take forever to add the file

From my experience *cough* you are trying to make one big rar into part rars.
    Usually it goes like this
    ex1_part001.rar
    ex1_part002.rar
    ex1_part003.rar
    .......
    .......

If youve winrar installed follow steps in above post.

ok, so what I am getting from what you guys tell me is that...
to burn an image that I... not download ... emm.. someone gives me (yea, gives me:D) I extract the files the standard way and use Alcohol 120% to burn it to dvd.
but if I want to make one, I can also use Alcohol 120%?? and then do the part rar thing (which I knew about :D)

Are you trying to make a part rar

    OR

    burn a part rar onto a DVD-R

    Just so i'm clear.
