Getting magic eye working

    Hi,

I bought a magic eye so as to be able to watch and change the telly upstairs even though the main viewing is downstairs with the sky box(PACE)

The coax cable from the sky box is going to an old ntl box - upstairs ntl box - coax to tv.

The magic eye does not light up. I have tried the eye by putting it directly into the PACE box but no joy. Was ready to bring it back as broken when I tried it in a friends and lo and behold it works.

I remember seeing something on the instructions (which I no longer have) about how to get the 9v outlet working using the remote but I can't find it.

Does anyone know the keys needed?
Will the configuration (up above) work when the magic eye gives the go ahead?

    Thanks

Hi there go into service on your sky box. Press 4, 0, 1, and select in that order. That will bring you into the installer menue. Go down to RF outlets and select that. When you do that make sure RF power supply is switched on. It sounds like its off. Make sure you save it when you switch it on. Hope that helps you.

Do Magic Eyes have easily-accessible on/off switches? If/when I get one, I'll need to turn it on and off a bit because of my set-up.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Colm,

Exactly as you said. The rf channel was not started up.

All ready for lie-ins and early nights in the leaba now :D

why would you need to do that?

See my post on two box viewing conundrum. Sometimes I'll want to let the person in the 2nd room to be able to change channels, and sometimes not, as both the the eye and the box will pick up both the remote signal, thus changing channel in the other room.
For instance, my daughter puts on 613 on the irl full-sub box and in doing so, changes the uk box to 613......

any ideas to get round this?

Afraid the only way I know is to change one of the boxes to a sky plus

Hi Guys, back again, jumped the gun a bit.

I definitely have power coming from the rf of the sky box.

This goes thru coax to an old cablelink box on the wall. Magic eye still working at this point.
TV upstairs gets it's connection from the cablelink box but now have no power to magic eye.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again

I dont think it will work going thru your cablelink box. As far as i know the cable from you sky box has to go straight to your unstairs telly with eye conected. But i could be wrong.

you need a direct uninterruped run of cable to the eye
