My video (purchased from Argos in Dublin) doesn't seem to be able to tune in anything on VHF, with the result that it can only pick up E4.

This wasn't an issue before, as it picked up the signal for the 4 stations when I had an antenna, but now I've connected to NTL it won't tune the stations in. My TV tunes them in no problem.

Any ideas for a work around?

Its not been unheard of when buying tv/video products from companies based in the uk that they're not suitable for the Irish Market. I'd just bring the VCR back to Argos, they're usually preety good about returns. And the next time make sure there is a UHF and a VHF tuner built in.

Yes, but having a box / receipt would probably help.

Same happened to a friend last month, she purchased a dvd recorder from them and it was the UK model. You have the same problem.

If you cannot find the receipt, it is not essential. You need a proof of purchase and if you paid by credit card, the statement is a proof.

Normally they are good at replacing suich items, this is a common problem.
