Hi, Just a query and I know its kinda subjective. What is the best business web site out there? I have to set up an informational type one (rather than transactional) and am looking for good models on which to base it.

Site Maps and Text Only Versions are good. TOVs should maintain full functionality.

Keep number of different file types to a minimum, use thumb nails for galleries, but otherwise be careful in using them. Only use PDFs where there is a need for them, i.e. where presentation of format is important / critical.

While a government site, I presume it is of the type you are talking about, www.nra.ie isn't bad (I can fault it on hiding content on the "Links" page).

I like 'expanding' navigation hyperlinks like http://www.finance.gov.ie (but not that the page refreshes when doing so), but not dynamic ones where the navigation changes as opposed to expands. For example:

    Click on http://www.finance.gov.ie
Click on "About the Department" - see the way it expands - Good
Click on "About the Department" again - see the way it contracts - Good
Click on "Press Releases" page refreshes - BAD
and new top menu introduced on right - BAD
Click on "Financial & Economic Information " - page refreshes (again )
Click on "Budget 2004" page refreshes - BAD
left menu changes - SO BAD IT MAKES ME WANT TO CRY :(

http://www.revenue.ie/index.htm used to be like this, they fixed it, but have introduced new errors.

Annual archives should be either automatic or encourage the content supplier to use them, I hate websites that claim it is 2001 or that they haven't added content since.
