Boot problem

    Hi
Here's hoping you can help me, you've not let me down yet.
I've been trying to load BootIT NG from a cd. I cannot get my computer to boot from the BootIT NG cd. The cd drive is the first option on the boot menu (no floppy) I can boot to a Mandrake CD that I have so I reckon the problem is with the cd and not the system. I burned two cds using roxio and nero using my laptop in work (Win 2K) and my old computer (win 98) and both of these will boot from the BootIT Ng cd. The only other thing that I can come up with is that on my new system I am using a DVD RW (NU DVD RW DDW-81) instead of a CD drive on the other two systems.
I really need to make an image of my new system before I start screwing it up
    :D

    Thnx in adv

Try burning the BootIt image onto different media. The only logical explaination I can think of for your problem is that your DVD RW can not read the disk and the most likely cause of that would be media incompatibility.

Do you mean to a different type of CD or to try and burn it to a DVD?

A different make of cdr media is what I meant. When your PC is booted if you put the boot cd in does your DVD recognise the contents of the CD?

Yes I can read the files on both of the cds.
On the one i burnt in work it reads as an .iso file whereas the one I burnt at home reads as an AVG update file. (I use AVG anti virus at home)

    AHHH

It now sounds like you are not burning the image properly to the cd. Using nero select burn image and point it to the location where the image file of the boot cd is stored on your pc.
