Running Programs in the Background

Is there any way of sending a program I'm running to run in the background so that it wont stop when I log off?

Someone said that they thought the screen program should be able to do what I want but I couldn't get it working for me. (ok. I admit I only spent about 5mins trying to get it working ;) )

Anyone got any advice for me?

When you're starting the program, start it with the nohup command. Not sure if you need to use & after the command.

    nohup <command> (&)

Ok. I spent more than 10 seconds on it and I got screen working for myself. Very nice program I must say.

Am I right in thinking that any process I have running in screen will stay running until I either stop screen or the server gets reset? In other words, will me loging off from the server stop any programs I have running in it?

Thanks for your help by the way

(edit) Alright. I got off my lazy ass and checked everything out for myself. Its all good. Cheers
