Help with DVD Burner

    Hello all

I recently bought a computer kit off Komplett, included with it was an MSIDR8-A2 region2 DVD burner.

So the PC is assembled (My first build; am quite proud : ) ) and everythings going grand till I decide to slap a bit of Father Ted (On DVD) into the drive. (At this point I should mention that I'm using XP as an operating system) The computer tells me that my system is configured to run region1 Disks and that I'll have to change it to run the disk! Eep! so I follow the prompt to the device manager and go to the region tab and change my location to Ireland which brings "region 2" up in the bottom window, but whenever I go back it has reverted to region: Not specified.

Does anyone have any idea whats going on? I've already used all but 2 of my 4 "changes" of region (Even though it won't allow me to set one ffs!) and I don't want to fiddle with it in case I use the other two attempts and my DVD player is about as functional as a sponge roof tile.
Please help if you can! Thanks very much

Hardware flash possibly here. Software solution would be something like Dvd Genie If you f*ck your drive with flash obvousily an warranty is void.

Cheers for the linkies. I solved the problem in the time honoured "plug it out and back in again" way  thanks anyway!
