Does anyone else think doctors bills are nothing short of exortion and daylight robbery?
    Heres my predicament:
I originally paid for a consultation with Doc 1 about a particular problem. The problem didnt go away and was bothering me on and off. So I went back to Doc 1 about 3 times. She didnt charge me for those times as she said I had been up + down to see her alot.
I then needed to see her again about the SAME problem, but she wasnt available, so receptinist made me an app, with another doc in the same practise, doc 2. (there are only 3 in the practise).
Now a few weeks later I get a bill from doc 2!

do I have to pay this? I didnt think I would get charged. I dont think its a bit fair.
    + Im a student, funds are v.low...

Considering the costs of being a Doctor, insurance, staff costs, car costs (very important for a doctor to have a good reliable car) not to mention the lost/low income during med school and hospital work, I dont begrudge the doctors their fees, however in your case you should explain to the receptionist, who is the one who would have generated the bill that your visit to doctor 2 was in relation to your ongoing visits to doctor 1 and that you dont feel you should be charged, she will go ask both about it and they will probably cancel the bill, but you need to talk to them

Look into Health Steps on VHI or else that 3rd company that are coming in.

I think doctor's fees are too high anyways but having been a student I know that if you are in Uni you can go to the doctor on Campus for free.
Maybe where you study doesnt have that facility?

I think you availed of a service and so should pay.
There are medical cards for people, including students, if they are entitled to them - which is obviously means tested on your parents income...
Could you not get your parents to pay for it?
I don't like this option, but if a student and no money and no medical card (as parents earn enough money) this is what you're meant to do...

Yes. That's what they're there for! It's madness paying for a doctor when you can get one for free!

If there's no doctor on your campus, I assume there's some set-up for free doctors visits for studnets of your college. It wouldn't make sense to discriminate between students from different universities.
As for the doctor not being paid for his/her services, that's surely not the case. He/she will be paid, jsut not directly by the patient.
