    does anyone here believe there must be a way to gauge time in litres, as in to say "yeah ill be over in about a litre" " ok cya then"

    or other metric madness??

    Not litres, but pints yes. e.g. I'll be over in about 2 pints.

    If you view a litre as about 1/10 of a double decker bus its easy, if you convert that to the 'football pitches' measurement your laughing

    I think this can be done. If you consider the rotation of the earth. (m/sec) Then consider a perfectly cubulat litre. That litre will have dimensions. For example length. That length will be in metres - Multiplying. the speed of the earth's rotation in combination with the length of a litre - then bingo - time in litres

    I've been using the pints measurement for some time now. For example when someone rings me in the pub and asks how long I've been there, I'll reply in terms of pints. It works quite well. Smokes also works well. "I've been here about 3 smokes"
